Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Co-Op Intern to join our Facilities department based in Columbus, MS.
You will be in a team providing Facilities support functions critical to operation and future site planning including preparation of project summaries such as budgets, timelines, scope of work, etc, analyze ergonomics and safety systems, use of AutoCad to complete company objectives and projects, assist with the execution of projects.
Your working environment:
On the eastern border of Mississippi you’ll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It’s here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.

Your challenges:
Project Coordination: 75%
- Assist with project management and construction coordination for facilities projects including planning, budgeting and installations.
- Review projects for cost effectiveness and return on investments per company objectives.
- Develop scopes of work and requests for proposals
- Create and coordinate project scheduling.
Maintenance Support: 15%
- Troubleshoot existing mechanical/electrical systems and identify areas to improve operating efficiencies.
- Develop criteria and performance specifications for facilities equipment, installation, labor and other related costs.
- Assist with writing preventative maintenance procedures.
CAD Design: 10 %
- Update/create CAD models of Facilities infrastructure.
- Prepare drawings for improvement projects and space allocation management.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned.
Your boarding pass:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Industrial or Engineering Technology, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
- Must be currently enrolled at Mississippi State University
- Basic knowledge of 2D or 3D CAD design requirements
- Able to communicate in the English language (verbal and written).
This job requires the ability to work in the US without current or future need for work authorization/visa sponsorship.

- Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily.
- Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms every day.
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily.
- Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts every day.
- Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs daily.
- Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs every day. Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools daily.
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer every day.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving daily.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor every day.
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice daily.
- Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces every day.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
