The Role
This role will work within the temporary accommodation team in supporting households placed into emergency accommodation to find alternative accommodation.
You will be providing administrative support to a number of households providing a holistic and wrap around support model to ensure a timely move on into sustainable accommodation is in place.
You will be ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed with households in emergency accommodation including applications to housing providers, completing tasks from Personalised Housing Plans and ensuring benefit maximisation is in place.
You will be expected to work in a hybrid way including carrying out visits to temporary accommodation locations and partner agencies in order to support in the completion of paperwork.
You will also be expected to support the team in the prevention of homelessness wherever possible, chasing documents and ensuring paperwork is competed along with providing the first point of contact within the reception area of the team.
You will be part of a very busy and fast paced service providing the statutory homelessness function.
About You
You will have:
Experience of working with households with complex difficulties
Worked in a Housing or support related field of work previously.
Excellent IT skills and the ability to work on your own as well as part of a team.
Be able to work on your own initiative to find solutions
Excellent interpersonal skills: able to build relationships with people at all levels, manage and resolve conflicts, influence others and challenge unacceptable practice.
Ability to show compassion to others in extreme and difficult situations.
Knowledge of the benefit system including housing benefits and universal credit
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present information coherently and concisely to different audiences.
Understanding of the council’s statutory duties and powers and procedural rules with the ability to advise others on their meaning.
Excellent understanding and management of customer expectation including where customers have additional support or other needs.
Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present information to different audiences.
