The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is under the College of Engineering (COE), aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. The School is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. Its faculty has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water research, sustainable built environment and future driven maritime research. Going forward, CEE is addressing critical problems in urban systems such as building structures and energy systems, sustainability of urban cities, and resiliency to natural and unnatural risks.
The Maritime Studies (MS) Programme stands as one of the largest programmes in CEE and holds the distinction of being Singapore's largest MS programme. It is rapidly expanding to maintain Singapore’s position as the leading global port hub and international maritime centre. The MS programme also endeavours to support Singapore’s maritime industry in its effort on decarbonisation and digitalisation. CEE also houses the Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) which primarily focuses on energy management, emission management, and sustainable maritime operations.
To fuel further development, we invite applications for Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) position in the following areas of Maritime Studies.
Applicants need to have an earned PhD degree from a reputable university in relevant disciplines with expertise in areas such as maritime data analytics, maritime digitalisation and automation, maritime sustainability, carbon accounting, life cycle assessment, sustainability reporting, ship energy efficiency and performance measurement, marine environment and energy management, maritime resilience, shipping management, shipping finance and management, maritime technology and innovation management, maritime conventions and regulatory framework, maritime simulation and modelling, international trade and brokering, multi-modal transport, global strategy and risk analysis.
Applicants should demonstrate strong and relevant teaching ability and has excellent communication skills. Although not mandatory, at least 2 years of postdoctoral experience and teaching experience at the tertiary education level are preferred.
