Purpose of Role:
The Engineering Stores Co-ordinator is a key role within the Engineering Department. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure that engineering stockholdings are suitable and sufficient for the emergent, short, and medium term needs of the department. This purpose extends to wider requirements such as ensuring that procurement is cost effective and ensuring that stores records are accurate and up to date. Working on a continuous shift pattern of 4 days on and 4 days off (4 days dayshift, 4 days off, 4 nights nightshift, 4 days off, 4 days dayshift and so on).
Responsibilities:
• Working within the team as a supervisor of the engineering stores and stores laydown areas on behalf of Mowi CPUK, maintaining the stores and laydown areas in line with 5S principles
• Operating any required computer systems as required in the pursuit of their purpose. This includes the engineering maintenance management system
• Raising spend approvals as required in the pursuit of their purpose
• Ordering spare parts and stock as required in pursuit of their purpose
• Monitoring and reporting slow moving / obsolete / obsolescent parts on a monthly basis
• Identifying and liaising with suppliers and internal customers to ensure that required assemblies, parts and consumables are cost effectively available as required
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvements to ensure that the store is easy to operate and maintained effectively in a tidy condition
• Conducting periodic stock maintenance (e.g. turning motor shafts by hand) to ensure that stock items remain in good material condition
• Conducting periodic stock checks to ensure that recorded stock levels match actual stock levels
• Conducting periodic stock checks and cost data updates to ensure that the recorded values of stock holdings remain accurate
• Maintaining adequate controls to ensure that items added to and removed from engineering stock are correctly accounted for
• Maintaining a daily cumulative record of engineering stock costs and supplying rolling records on demand for use by the business
• Maintaining adequate controls within the engineering stores to ensure that all parts and equipment are used effectively, solely in the interests of Mowi CPUK
• Contributing to site safety by reporting and resolving near misses and accidents
• Undertaking manual labour and heavy lifting including obtaining parts for engineers, unpacking and storing delivered parts, transporting parts through the factory, manually and by use of forklift truck
• Any other reasonable task that may be delegated by line management
Organisational fit:
The Engineering Stores Co-ordinator reports to the Engineering Support Lead.
From a functional perspective, the role holder will liaise closely and work in support of all Engineering Managers and the Engineering Administrator Apprentice. He / she will also interface with everyone in the engineering department for day-to-day transactions, as well as working with the finance team to ensure that stock checks are completed and engineering spares holdings and costs are understood and controlled.
