About the role

The Research Director will be responsible for the contribution to the overall growth of the CX service line in Singapore. Senior Research Director

We are a specialist division of M&C Saatchi.

We are focused on tackling some of humanity's most challenging and important problems, in fragile states and developing countries, through the creation of multimedia messaging campaigns.

A specialist research team exists within the company to provide formative research support and to evaluate the progress of the campaigns. We are looking for an experienced mixed-methods researcher to lead this research team.

The Senior Research Director will be confident leading the Research & Insights Department, managing & overseeing a team across two offices. This will involve overseeing the design of assessment frameworks to ensure both the effectiveness of the messaging is assessed, as well as the assessment of the strategy/Theory of Change itself. The Senior Research Director will also oversee report writing for internal audiences as well as clients. The position requires relationship management with research partners who perform the primary research on behalf of the organisation. Job purpose

· Working as part of a core team that supports M&C Saatchi World Services’ communications campaigns, providing research, analysis and insights to support program management teams.

· Leading the measurement and assessment of ongoing communications campaigns, applying quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Main Accountabilities

· Implementing evaluation strategies, including designing assessment strategies and reviewing draft formative and evaluative research instruments produced by Analysts working on the project.

· Owning project research reporting including assessment reports and formative research reports. This includes reviewing reports delivered by Managers & Analysts working on the project to ensure we are providing meaningful and actionable insights.

We’re looking for a Director of Learning - Science, with a proven track record of success in improving standards and raising pupil outcomes. We want to hear from talented middle leaders looking to extend their experience, and outstanding, ambitious teachers seeking their first middle leadership post.

The Valley Leadership Academy is a secondary school for 11 to 16year olds in Bacup. We joined Star Academies in 2019and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

Job Description:

• Engage with companies and agencies to understand their businesses, product/service offerings & technology needs.
• Foster R&D collaboration between companies/agencies with researchers/research units in A*STAR SRTT, to drive impactful outcomes.
• Proliferate IP portfolio of A*STAR SRTT through technology productization, licensing or formation of new spin off.
• Work closely with industries and agencies to market the portfolio and research capabilities through collaboration and facilitate the technology transfer as needed.
• Work closely with scientists and principal investigators in determining the scope of projects, costing estimation, agreement drafting, and negotiation with industries and agencies.
• Provide management reporting support, market intelligence and facts gathering to facilitate decision-making and occasionally convinces others where strong interests exists to adopt new concepts and approaches.
• Analyse problems and ensure compliance to A*STAR practices and policies.
• Drive or support the development and execution of industry strategy for key R&D programmes under SRTT.
• Takes ownership and responsibility for team's action and decision.

Requirements:

• Master in Physical Sciences or equivalent.
• 5 years of industry/agency experience, with 3-5 years in a business development and/or technical strategic planning and execution role.
• Candidates with experience and knowledge in advanced scientific concepts and cutting-edge technologies, preferably in advanced computing, high performance computing, quantum , semicon/electronics, will have an advantage.
• Experience in project management in an R&D, Technology and/or Operations environment, interfacing with private and public sector agencies would be a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Pro-active, quality conscious, and results-oriented.

This role will take the leadership of building an innovation pipeline for S&T projects across Asia and lead the creation of an innovation portfolio via partnerships with academic institutions and other innovation hubs, with the goal of creating novel and advanced products for Danaher’s growth franchises.

This role will work collaboratively with multiple Business Strategy and R&D leaders across Danaher’s Platforms and Operating Companies (OpCo’s) to launch Danaher Ventures (equity investment), Pioneer (venture creation), Beacon (sponsored academic research) and/or Nexus (intrapreneurship) projects, and to ensure that IP created through these strategic partnerships is properly advanced to new products.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Identify complete set of start-ups and new ventures in Asia that align with the strategic envelope of the Danaher Ventures and could be targets for investment. Areas of focus: Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis and AI/ML in Life Sciences and Healthcare. Initiate contact with targets in order to develop an point of view on attractiveness, adjacency and actionability. Lead cultivation, deal development and due diligence on select targets in partnership with Danaher’s internal network of subject matter experts and commercial leaders. Prepare and present findings for internal review and sign-off. Monitor and manage, as appropriate, investments post close
• Complete in-depth market work in order to prioritize opportunities and develop a point-of-view on attractiveness
• Develop and improve standard work around opportunity identification, partner cultivation, opportunity assessment, and transactions
• Work closely with our Danaher Country Presidents across Asia, as well as the OpCo’s leaders in those countries.
• Apply the Danaher Business System to develop and improve standard work around intra- and entrepreneurship

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Advanced degree in a scientific / engineering discipline and/or business (Areas of focus: Genomic Medicine, Next-Generation Bioprocessing, Human Systems R&D, Diagnosis and AI/ML in Life Sciences and Healthcare), plus 8+ years of experience in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech/Life Science industry discovery and early development
• Experience in venture investing in early- to late-stage startups, experience/lab work in a biology setting, preferred. Mixture of Asia and global experience preferred. Successful track record in external R&D, partnering, licensing and/or business development preferred
• Established networks across scientific/biotech/pharma/academic/investment communities
• Fluency in English and Chinese
• Demonstrated high integrity and ethics in all dealings, non-political in conduct, while understanding internal and external dynamics

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

• Travel: Varies and can be up to 50%; Candidate required to travel internationally without restrictions as needed.
