Your Role
As an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), you will have a combined role in reviewing and quality assuring care planning for children in our care and those who are the subject of a child protection plan you will drive and promote excellence in these areas of practice.
You will have a reduced caseload as you will also be the Assistant Service Leader for Safeguarding. You will play a key role in jointly leading the service by offering leadership oversight and supervision to some of the IRO team. You will have a key role in supporting the quality assurance and practice development work of the service, including supporting the Service Leader in the regular review of data and performance to ensure we are fulfilling our statutory responsibilities and strengthening our independent oversight of children’s plans.
About You
You will be a qualified social worker with significant experience in practice. You will have a strong commitment to working restoratively and will be skilled in forming relationships with children and their families, and with partners. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and will have experience of chairing complex meetings, analysing information from multiple sources, assessing risk and formulating plans. You will have a sound understanding of quality assurance frameworks and will be ambitious to achieve excellence for the children and families of Stockport. You will also have a desire to lead a team and strive for continuous improvement of our service.

The IRO team sits within the Safeguarding and Learning Service and alongside colleagues from Family Group Conference, Participation, Workforce Development, and the Children’s and Adults’ Safeguarding Partnerships.
