PURPOSE:
* Assist HOD in managing the activities of the RI Dept in line with Co’s Policies and Business Plans
* Assist HOD to review and implement the company’s Reinsurance Programme
* Attend to risks requiring reinsurance by effecting treaty cessions and/or fac placements in accordance with guidelines laid down under the Company’s Risk Management policy and Reinsurance programme.
* Maximise retention of risks to increase Net Written Premium as a percentage of Gross Written Premium through sound assessment of the risks, underwriting information and risk survey reports.
* Handle all matters relating to RI Facultative Outwards Business and Facultative inwards business. Ensure RI documentation is handled properly.
* Compile yearly treaty renewal information
* Assist HOD in continual Process Health Checks. Compliance with ICP procedures to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness in work processes within the RI Dept.
* Provide a technical reference point for queries from BUs, Claims, Finance and Reinsurers. Assist in training of less experienced staff.
* Undertake any other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Minimum tertiary education with minimum professional insurance qualification in ANZIIF or equivalent
* Sound knowledge in underwriting, reinsurance and risk management
* Good communications skills
* Operations experience in general insurance environment
* Technical reinsurance support
