We are looking for two Junior Land Surveyors to join the Team, one based in Stafford and the other in Edinburgh.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English (or equivalent).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
A strong team player with excellent communication skills.

A fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Green Estate Supervisor to join our flagship TfL HMF contract. This role will involve supervising all aspects of Green Estate delivery including cyclical and reactive arboriculture and horticultural maintenance. We have some major refurbishment, new build and modification projects sanctioned for our facilities on the Sellafield site. Ranging from the upgrade of our facilities, the installation of new technology, to the modification of cells and services to support our future workload.

The role of the construction coordinator (Trainee) is to support the construction team in the execution of the construction stages of the projects. While undertaking accredited training and gaining on the job experience.

When full SQEP status is achieved you will be taking responsibility for ensuring all contractors employed on our projects execute works in a safe and timely manner and adhere to all regulatory, management and contractual arrangements.

The construction coordinator role encompasses the NNL SQEP roles of SSOW Originator, Task Supervisor (Construction) and Subcontractor Supervisor.

Part of your duties will include:

• The production of construction strategies and construction phase plans.
• The estimating and scheduling of site works.
• The inspection and acceptance of the contractors completed works to the required engineering and construction design specifications and standards.
• The production of final handover documentation.
  

Main Responsibilities for Construction Coordinator (Trainee):

The key area of accountability is to coordinate and ensure the safe delivery of all construction activities within your assigned area. Other accountabilities:

• To ensure all specified construction and installation standards are met (Surveillance and inspection).
• To ensure site safety and safe working practices are adhered to and promote a positive health and safety culture in construction.
• To ensure that controlling documentation submitted by contractors for review and endorsement are commented on prior to the commencement of work and that monitoring of the contractors compliance with
• the controlling documents is carried out.
• To ensure that resources used for construction are Suitably Qualified Experienced Person (SQEP) and are managed cost effectively.
• To ensure that all construction activities comply with National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) and UK legal requirements, including Nuclear Site License Conditions.
• To provide constructability input to the design process.
• The production and upkeep of construction phase plans and strategies.
• To ensure that harmonious Industrial Relations are maintained.
• Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
• To improve construction safety performance and to meet company targets.

Essential Criteria for Construction Coordinator (Trainee):

• Min NVQ 3-or equivalent in an engineering, electrical or construction discipline. Have a trade background and completed a recognised apprenticeship. Must have experience of working on a nuclear site.
• To undertake this role successfully you must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be a self-starter, be able to take responsibility and work with minimum supervision, at times under pressure with excellent organisational skills; be able to multitask and re-prioritise to meet changing needs and project deadlines in a team environment.
• Ability to obtain DV level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial, criminal record checks, interview plus 10 years of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Construction Coordinator (Trainee):

• Experience in electrical installations.
• Previous supervisory experience.
• NEBOSH general or construction certificate.

The trainee surveyor is on a 20-month training program to learn how we perform our classification services. The program includes office work and field work. During the training period the trainee does not have authorization to work independently and will as such always be accompanied by a qualified DNV surveyor or DNV technical expert.

The trainee surveyor shall hold a master’s degree within Naval architecture, Industrial Cybernetics or Marine Engineering from a reputable university and is selected based on merits from university and personal qualifications and suitability.

Daily tasks include:

1. Conduct Class and Statutory surveys on fleet-in-service ships and floating offshore structures under supervision of a trainer.

2. To assist with the preparation of technically accurate and timely reports.

3. To carry out other technical jobs under supervision, as assigned by the fleet-in-service planner.

And

1. Ensure that the work or duties performed are in accordance with the rules, regulations, instructions, guidelines and quality requirements of DNV.

2. To gain relevant qualification elements for a surveyor in the internal training and accreditation system

3. Maintain the confidentiality of clients' business, processes, designs, development, and documentation.

4. Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of DNV.

5. Exhibit customer-oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions.

Qualification

· Degree qualification, e.g. Eng, or equivalent preferably in Maritime/Naval architecture/engineering with strong academic results.

· General knowledge on Maritime.

· Maximum 1-2 years of experience working in the yard for design and shipping company in technical/engineering will be an advantage.

· Good communication skills with cross language capability, overcoming culture barriers to enhance team performance.

· Fluent English, spoken and writing.

· Willingness and flexibility to relocate abroad.

· Interest to work in an international environment.
