GENERAL OVERVIEW

Performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with appropriate instruments and supplies. (20%)
• Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions. Follows policy for medication and specimen handling. (20%)
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to assure correct patient and surgical site. (20%)

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 must:
  • Successfully complete a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and maintain a surgical technologist certification from an accredited certification program (including military completed programs). Nationally recognized surgical technologist certification required within 6 months of completion of Surgical Technologist program. -OR-
  • Be employed to practice surgical technology by the health care facility on or before December 29, 2020. -OR-
  • Been employed to practice surgical technology as the individual's primary function in another health care facility at any time during the two years immediately preceding December 29, 2020.

Preferred

• One year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred.

This job provides direct care to patients and assists with non-direct patient care unit coordination. They is expected to maintain the patient/family environment and perform general unit upkeep. They is expected to use accurate verbal and written communication, and to document patient care appropriately in the electronic medical record. The incumbent works under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse for patients in stable condition. Will work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse in the care of the acutely ill and/or complex patient. The incumbent receives specific work assignments from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader which are both written & verbal and is expected to demonstrate evidence of efficient time management by completing the work within the scheduled time. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the incumbent is expected to perform a variety of duties related to the coordination of activities on the inpatient unit. This includes activities related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, skin survey, vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, intake and output, meal consumption, height and weight, blood glucose testing/monitoring, point of care testing, bladder scanning, transporting of patients and their medical record, documentation of O2, early mobilization and ambulation protocols, assistance with exam, treatments and procedures. (30%)
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives which may include bedside shift report, purposeful hourly rounding promoting safety such as falls prevention, hand washing, isolation protocols and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. (30%)
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, specimen collection, and all other treatments. Report changes in patient's physical, mental and emotional conditions, as well as any issues or concerns identified to nursing staff. (20%)
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment/appliance cleaning, checks and retrieval. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High School Diploma or GED
• CPR Certification
• Limited or no experience: Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform basic mathematics
• Basic computer skills

• Acute care experience with in the last 3 years
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program. Preference given to those enrolled in Associates or Bachelor’s degree Nursing programs and completed at least one clinical rotation

Obtains limited clinical data based on service required. Corrects and updates all necessary data to assure timely, accurate bill submission. (30%)
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system. Identifies payor authorization/referral requirements. Provides appropriate documentation and follow up to physician offices, case management department, and payors regarding authorization/referral deficiencies. (20%)
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and post payment transactions as appropriate in the ADT system and performs daily reconciliation. • Performs PHQ-9 depression screening, tobacco screening, chronic disease screening and MU required screenings. Performs in-house testing following established protocols and policies.
• In collaboration with the care team nurse, provides follow up with patient at designated intervals via patient preferred method (telephone, electronic, written) in accordance with prescribed provider instructions. Notifies patients of test results under the direction of provider in a timely manner.
• Ensures adequate inventory of medical supplies. Ensures all patient treatment areas are at all times stocked with the appropriate supplies using established inventory standards.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments per established standards. Accurately performs lab controls and equipment checks as assigned.
• Serves as a peer mentor. Responsibly orients new medical assistants in correct office workflows.
• Demonstrates proficiency in teaching pre-visit planning, meaningful use standards, appropriate documentation and workflows. Provides meaningful feedback and performance evaluations for orientees. Mentors students and interns as assigned.
• Accurately performs clerical office functions and other duties as assigned or required.
• Depending on location, may serve as office safety officer: maintains the office safety log, assures the accuracy and completion of all quality assurance testing for all POCT performed in the office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• One year certificate from college or technical school, or one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Required: Newly hired medical assistants must complete training and/or attempt testing within 30 days of hire; newly hired medical assistants must obtain certification within 120 days of hire.
• CPR certification required.
• Medical assistants must achieve and maintain certification in accordance with CMS Meaningful Use requirements.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Performs direct and indirect technical tasks for patients before, during, and after surgical interventions.

Nationally recognized surgical technologist certification required within 6 months of completion of Surgical Technologist program. -OR-
  • Be employed to practice surgical technology by the health care facility on or before December 29, 2020. -OR-
  • Been employed to practice surgical technology as the individual's primary function in another health care facility at any time during the two years immediately preceding December 29, 2020.

Performs prescribed CT imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (50%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (15%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (15%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Associate’s Degree; or Certification from a technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Radiography Certification and Registration or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
• Computed Tomography (CT) Certification is required within 18 months of hire. Employees in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022 who do not have a CT certification are not required to obtain them; employees in a CT role with existing CT certification are required to maintain active certifications.  Employees hired or transferred into the CT role on/after July 1, 2022 are also required to maintain active certifications.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level under the supervision of a technologist. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures, up to the level of documented competency, that require independent judgement and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to perform imaging. Prepares for and assists the physician in imaging procedures. (40%)
• Completes all required documentation for procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing protocol and image distribution. (20%)
• Implements radiation protection and safety standards. (15%)
• Assists the Radiology Technologist by attending to the patient's comforts/needs, expediting patient flow and documenting the patient's clinical information. (10%)
• Maintain adequate supplies for efficient section/department operations. (10%)
• May also assists in the preparation of contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. (5%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• Presently enrolled, and in good standing, in a radiology technologist program
• CPR certification
