The Unit:
Allegheny General's Radiology Department has 4 Interventional labs, 5 CTs, 3 MRIs, fluoroscopy, general x-ray, US, and nuclear medicine.
RNs are trained to circulate and provide moderate sedation during invasive procedures and diagnostic exams.
We treat embolic stroke, arterial occlusion, tumors with chemo and radiation, insert vascular access devices, preform biopsies, arterial and venous embolization, arterial and venous thrombectomy, TIPS, chronic pain.
Work directly and collaboratively with Radiologist and Technologists
State-of-the-art imaging equipment as well as a new environment of care.
Nurses who work in the AGH Radiology Department support one of the best interventional stroke and trauma programs in western PA.

Radiology has a high volume of neurointervention.
These are invasive procedures much like the OR sterile, often times with anesthesia.
GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Delivers professional nursing care within the perioperative arena to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates use of supplies, instrumentation and equipment for pre and intraoperative care and ensures that the equipment is functioning properly.
- Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
- Acts as patient advocate and documents preoperative and intraoperative care delivered in compliance with hospital, departmental and regulatory agencies.
- Monitors the surgical environment to ensure that aseptic technique is followed by the surgical team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
- Current RN PA license in good standing
- Minimum one year recent ICU or Radiology RN experience
- Must live within 30 minutes of Allegheny General for call
