The typical seasonal period for Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park is May-November. Anticipated Enter on Duty date would be May/June.

Major Duties:

• removes nonnative fish from alpine lakes;
• completes visual encounter surveys for amphibians and reptiles;
• sets, cleans and repairs gill nets;
• electro-fishes in streams;
• conducts fish, amphibian, and reptile surveys;
• collects field data;

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks represent an extraordinary continuum of ecosystems (96% designated wilderness) arrayed along the greatest vertical relief (1,370 to 14,505 feet elevation) of any protected area in the lower 48 states. Sequoia National Park is the nation's second oldest national park (established September 25, 1890) and encompasses 404,863 acres. Both parks provide a wealth of recreational opportunities via 835 miles of trails, wild and scenic rivers, alpine lakes, and caves, along with a full range of overnight lodging prospects to choose from that include 14 campgrounds. Physical Demands: The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., packs and equipment up to 50 pounds) must be lifted and carried on a routine basis.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in an office, laboratory, and in the field. Field work includes exposure to extreme weather conditions and terrain, pesticides, poisonous plants, biting insects, and wild animals. Laboratory work may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Air Quality: Poor air quality afflicts Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, especially during summer months - generally May to October. High ozone levels may be the most harmful pollutant here. We are running our 16th cohort of Trainee Nursing Associate Apprentices, working in partnership The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) / The University of Cumbria.

These posts are apprenticeship posts commencing on the March 2025 cohort, which will see you develop to a NMC registered Nursing Associate, completing a 2 year foundation degree training programme. The course is fully funded.

Internal candidates,will be on a 2 year Trust Secondment contract
External Candidateswill be a 2 year fixed term contract.

These posts are specifically for our Cumbria Mental Health Inpatient Wards (based over the 2 sites throughout the 2 years; Furness General Hospital, Barrow and Westmorland General Hospital, Kendal)

As a trainee you will be based within clinical practice for the duration of the programme and will have study leave to attend University. You will rotate through different services within your speciality / service area (where applicable) and undertake block placements outside of your normal place of work, to gain a breadth of experience and skills.

Some travel is required so you must either be a car driver or be prepared to access public transport when on placement. You could be expected to travel up to 90 minutes each way to placement and work shifts and weekends.

You will need to demonstrate an understanding of healthcare and the role of a Nursing Associate and show evidence of being an effective communicator with the people you care for, their families and carers, as well as your colleagues and superiors.

You will need to be prepared to work hard and undertake study in your own time, while on the programme; learning the fundamentals of exceptional care and developing your depth of knowledge around important aspects of both physical and mental health. In addition you will be taught many clinical skills which will be required when you become a registered Nursing Associate.

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

YOU MUST HAVE THE ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES.
You must have the Original certificates for Maths, English and any qualifications needed to meet the entry requirements. Transcripts will not be accepted.

You must also clearly put Maths, English and other qualifications, with your type/level of qualification, grade and date achieved, on you application form in order to be shortlisted.

All current apprenticeships must be completed in full, including your end point assessment, to enrol onto this Trainee Nursing Associate apprenticeship.

For internal candidates – you will need to have agreement from your manager to apply for this post, which will be verified if successful. As you will be on a Trust secondment contract, in the event of needing to withdraw from the programme.

On successful completion of the course you will be placed into a permanent band 4 Nursing Associate role within the Trust, however this may not be in your current work place.

During training you will be paid a Band 3 and there will be an expectation to work 37.5 hours.

If successful in securing a place on the course you WILL NOT be eligible for student finance.

Please be advised if you are a ‘Non-UK National’ applicant you must meet the eligibility criteria and fulfil the settlement requirements of the apprenticeship course funding. • Survey and appraise Yellowstone National Park administrative and resource management records.
• Process (arrange, rehouse, and describe) record collections following professional standards and agency guidelines.

Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance GS-11 level.

This position is located within the park boundary in Gardiner, MT. five miles north of Park Headquarters/Mammoth Hot Springs, WY where basic amenities are available (small grocery store, K-12 school, restaurants, motels, etc.). Full-service amenities are available 60 miles north in Livingston, MT and 90 miles northwest in Bozeman, MT. A small medical clinic is located at Mammoth Hot Springs. Temperatures in this area of the park vary from 70-90+ degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to sub-zero in the winter.

The North Entrance to the Northeast Entrance is the only road open to wheeled vehicles all year. Year-round visitation is steadily trending toward significant increases in autumn, winter, and spring. Mammoth Hot Springs is the only year-round, NPS visitor services operation in the park. Albright Visitor Center is open 364 days per year and currently closed Thanksgiving.

• Able to start work immediately
• Fresh/Entry level welcome as training provided
