Major Duties/Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the assurance of quality of care and all clinical aspects of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC).

The Chief of SPS plays a leadership role in ongoing systematic evaluation and improvement of quality and effectiveness of SPS program outcomes. The incumbent provides health system-wide leadership for critical and semi-critical RMD, including sterile storage, reprocessing, standard operating procedures (SOP), competency assessment, selection, operation, and maintenance of reprocessing equipment, staff education program for RMDs, and quality management of SPS. With the commander, the incumbent oversees the complex, numerous, and varied day-to-day aircraft maintenance activities that the SOMXG provides to the installation mission. The incumbent is authorized to make technical and executive decisions for the SOMXG Commander in all areas of functional responsibility; represents the group and the commander at meetings, conferences, official functions, and community events; and, when acting as the senior group official in the absence of the commander, possesses the same authority and prerogatives as the commander, excluding UCMJ authority which is vested in military officers only. DUTIES:

This position is the Deputy Chief of Staff, GS-0301-15, located in the Office of Science and Technology, in Washington D.C. The primary purpose of this position is to represent the Bureau in negotiations with the Department of Justice (DOJ) on issues related to science and technology. The Consolidated Textile Processing Plant processes linens, patient clothing, uniforms and specialty items (operating room linens, bed pads, mops, restraints, bedspreads, etc.) for ten (10) medical centers: Brockton, West Roxbury, Boston, Bedford, Northampton, Providence RI, Manchester NH, West Haven/Newington CT, Togus ME and White River Junction VT. The organization also provides linen services to seven (7) outpatient clinics and maintains two linen service contracts with private industry. This organization processes approximately 7,920,000 pounds of laundry per year.

The major duties of the position include but are not limited to:

• Utilizes knowledge of laundry plant policies, procedures, facilities and operations associated with medical center laundry functions that cover a major region in order to plan and carry out the operations and scheduling requirements of the laundry plant to meet customer requirements and delivery times;
• Supervises a wage grade workforce through subordinate supervisors/leaders by following personnel management policies and procedures, union contracts, special emphasis programs, etc.;
• Analyzes and evaluates effectiveness of laundry operations and recommends changes;

This includes provision of program specific consultation related to social work, social work hiring and human resources actions, social work productivity measurement, staffing management, risk management and coverage, management of the social work trainee program, strategic direction for social work, and professional education.
