We are looking for a Family Time Worker who will ensure that supervised contact is a warm and supportive experience and is at the forefront of their work. You will have a good understanding of the needs of children and those looked after, and their families who access the service. You will also have excellent written skills to produce clear, concise reports on your observations of Family Time, which contributes to the social workers assessments and care plans.

As a team we strive to meet the expectations of the Social Workers and the Courts and provide evidence to help determine the outcome of permanency for children. Working with vulnerable children and their families can be challenging at times. You will be able to manage the emotional demands that this may place on you during your work, with access to a supportive team environment.

Our Vision Rehabilitation Specialists are an integral part of the countywide team also made up of Social Workers for deaf people, and Assistant Care Managers for deaf and hard and hearing and visually impaired people. The Vision Rehabilitation Specialists work directly with people with a visual impairment from the office base is in Horsham however you will be regularly traveling to clients in Crawley and Mid Sussex including areas that are not easily accessible by public transport. Due to the amount of equipment (of a moderate weight) you are required to transport to appointments, including mobility aids and equipment for independent living, you will need to be a car driver.

As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialists you'll be utilising your skills and knowledge to develop and implement a plan of support aimed at improving wellbeing and delivering positive outcomes for people who are blind (severely sight impaired) or partially sighted (sight impaired), deaf and deafblind. You will manage a busy and varied caseload by providing a statutory accountable social care service to those people who access or need the service. You will be undertaking high quality assessments and reviews as well as contribute to mental capacity act assessments and to safeguarding enquiries. A great part of this role is working alongside local voluntary organisations and building up good working relationships with them. The team have great links with the local eye clinic liaison officers and work together to benefit the people we work with, good relationship management skills will help you to succeed as a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist.

As a Restorative Justice Advisor, you will be passionate about giving victims of youth crime a voice, and creating opportunities for children involved in the youth justice system to repair the harm caused by their offending behaviour. You will be responsible for coordinating the offer and delivery of all restorative processes to victims linked to youth crime. You will be motivated to work with both complex and vulnerable children and the victims of their offending to create a safe environment where everyone can have a voice and you can facilitate the best outcomes for everyone.

We are looking for people who can display empathy, have strong communication skills and the ability to enable others to communicate with each other such as mediation skills. You will have understanding of attachment and developmental trauma, child development and the victim recovery model to effectively engage both children and victims. Good assessment skills and being able to respond independently and effectively to resolve problems and situations as they arise will be key. You will be able to demonstrate strong emotional resilience and practice, as well as upskilling and supporting the wider YJS service to manage and embed restorative practices.

You will value multi-agency working, such as developing partnerships with police, children's homes, schools and other agencies which may include delivery of workshops around raising their restorative practice awareness and skills, and facilitating restorative justice conferences. Working closely with the Reparation staff to cultivate and develop projects and opportunities with community groups, charities and non-profit organisations will be instrumental in ensuring children have a variety of avenues to make a positive impact and foster a future within their communities.

The government has announced new funding to support current smokers to quit smoking, with £70 million additional funding per year for local authority-led stop smoking services (SSS) and support.

West Sussex County Council Public Health (WSCC PH) will be receiving approximately £1.075 million for 2024/25, ring-fenced for smoking cessation. Although the exact amount for each subsequent year is yet to be determined, this funding will continue until 2028/29.

We are seeking multiple Smoking Cessation Advisors to join the team. You will be a key member of the in-house smoking cessation service, supporting individuals to quit smoking tobacco. This will include providing support in a variety of different ways, including via telephone and face to face, in a range of venues including community settings and workplaces.

Salary: £30,296 to £33,024 per annum.

Contract: 2x Permanent, 1x 12 Months fixed-term.

Location: Your office base will be Chichester and a typical week will combine homeworking with attendance at the office. This is led by the needs of the service.

Working pattern: Full-time 37 hours per week.

Employer Pension Contribution: 19.70% this alters per annum on the 1 April each year.

As a Communications Officer, you will deliver first-class communications and messages to communities across West Sussex.

Working as part of the county council's Communications & Engagement Team, you'll be working on high-profile campaigns and messaging across various channels and platforms, including social, digital and print media as well as providing media relations and handling by liaising with journalists.

Working with a supportive team, you will be involved in multiple projects simultaneously where your passion for communications, innovation and creativity, plus your eye for detail and how best to convey a compelling message will be greatly valued.

You'll be responsible for evaluating communications to showcase its impact. This will involve creating, managing, and monitoring plans, plus gathering quantifiable data through a variety of methods to track success.

You'll assist Senior Communication Officers and Communications Leads in promoting council campaigns, behavioural programmes, and projects efficiently. Understanding council services is crucial for recognising opportunities and building relationships with key staff. You need to be aware of both local and national news agendas to ensure the county council is seizing all opportunities and responding to current events.

You'll be required to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, for which an additional allowance is provided.

What we need from you:

• Ability to develop creative ideas and editorial across all forms of communication and editing input for a range of platforms.
• Ability to write effectively for a range of audiences and communication channels including for the web and social media.
• Developed communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders, fostering strong working relationships.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Literacy and numeracy skills to understand and interpret research data and customer feedback and present analysis in the most appropriate way.
• Relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of processes, procedures and policies associated with working within a demanding communications service.
• Knowledge of communication methods, including social media, to effectively contribute to changing campaign objectives.
• Understanding of the media landscape and management of media sensitive issues.
• Understanding of the political landscape and politically sensitive issues.
• Experience of working on a variety of communications activities, particularly in a public sector environment.
• Experience/confidence of dealing with a range of people and services and planning on more than one campaign at a time.
• Experience of handling and responding to media enquiries.
