Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP),Workforce Care Directorate (WCD), will allow you to utilize your expertise to work with WCD leadership to develop original designs, concepts, and visual styles for publications, exhibits, presentations, and websites that evoke certain responses from the viewers or that reduce the cost of production, installation, or maintenance of a broad inventory of visual products. This position starts at a salary of $117,962.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $153,354.00 (GS-13, Step 10). In this Visual Information Specialist position you will become a key team member of Department of Homeland Security professionals involved in developing original designs, concepts, and visual styles, characterized by their unique and novel topics, large scale, involvement of various media and visual using a variety of software for meetings, publications, exhibits, presentations, and websites that delivers a message to viewers; developing visual products that are often produced from a multiplicity of media and are both conventional and non-conventional in nature; stay abreast of DHS and CP policies, programs, and audience interests, as well as contemporary methods and trends in internal information and employee communication programs; and analyzing articles and program themes considering what information the office wants to impart and decides on the best design techniques to present the information.
Typical Work assignments include:
- Planning and directing the design and presentation of visual and video products, for use in publications and presentations both across CBP and for external media outlets and employee family members.
- Developing informational material that informs appropriate audiences of the agency's activities, plans, policies, programs, and communication programs in furthering CBP goals and objectives.
- Designing and editing multi-media projects using a wide-variety of computer design technology.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of EAC communications strategies, materials and programs that support and promote enhanced engagement with EAC stakeholder communities.
