Notice of Filing of Application for Permanent Employment Certification
Notice is hereby provided that Berklee College of Music intends to file an Application for Permanent Employment Certification with the U.S. Department of Labor for the position of Audio Visual Post Production Manager.
The Duties of the Audio Visual Post Production Manager are as follows:
- Manage the Berklee Online post production team and process. Maintain the highest level of professional audio and video production quality, striving for unparalleled video production results that push the envelope and industry expectations for audio, video, and media creation. All of the content recorded is for music education and requires a musical background to meet the needs of Berklee courses.
- Manage whole band recording sessions including running sound for studio recording and audio recording resource management and direction.
- Contribute to arranging and creating material used in music courses including examples of musical styles such as Jazz, etc. performed by students and professors. Fully involved in overseeing and editing recorded material for the course. 90% of courses at Berklee involve examples of live music, performed by either the professor, students, or entire band.
- Updating whole audio system to record musicians and music lessons
- Manager of post production- assists in video recordings running sound- train post production team to run sound for all video shoots. Training other editors on the production team to be able to record music.
- Work collaboratively with video producers, musicians, performers, editors, stakeholders, etc., to take projects from conception to completion.
- Quality assurance and attention to detail in creating and reviewing personal and team work including an emphasis on reviewing recorded music and performances for content accuracy around educational music concepts.
- Oversee audio visual content creation at Berklee Online with an emphasis on ensuring technical accuracy and educational effectiveness of all media created.
- Lead by example and train video team members and project stakeholders on Berklee Online’s approved post-production and file management workflows, as well as training and managing student employees as needed.
- Create, own, and update workflow best practice documents as needed to clearly communicate processes and expectations to the team around post production, audio recording, and educational best practices for content and media creation.
- Organize and track assets with project management and digital asset management best practices in a shared workflow environment.
- Work with the Audio Visual Production Manager and Senior Director of Brand Strategy to oversee master video scheduling documents and processes to ensure coordination of resources between teams.
- Work with the Senior Director of Brand Strategy and Berklee Online’s senior leadership to strategically balance video production bandwidth with organizational needs.
- Maintain the video team's ProMax SAN as well as all tools and technology related to the proper operation of the video post production process at Berklee Online.
- Oversee audio recording pre-production and production, finding the best way to record audio in studio and on location.
- Plan and execute on technical audio recording setups to properly record vocal performances and instruments (guitars, pianos, ensembles, etc.).
- Professional audio editing utilizing DAWs (ProTools, Logic).
- Manage audio equipment and technology, including identifying, budgeting, purchasing, cataloging, and maintaining equipment.
- Professional nonlinear editing (NLE) with Adobe Premiere Pro and experience with the entire Adobe Creative Cloud toolset (Photoshop, After Effects, Encoder, etc.) including advanced understanding of audio mixing, color correction, and graphics creation.
- Assist with video production and audio recording as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Music Production, Audio Recording or another related music field, 3 years of experience in Music Production, Audio Recording, or another related music field, or any music production occupation meeting the special requirements below
* Will also accept foreign bachelor's degree (4 years of postsecondary education) from an accredited music school.
Special Requirements:
- High level of with and an advanced knowledge of all areas of audio recording and post production, including audio recording best practices, studio audio recording, on location audio recording, and audio mixing including the proper setup and operation of audio equipment.
- High level of excellent video post-production experience including knowledge of video editing, color correction, video compression, and online distribution.
- High level of professional experience with audio recording and music production tools and editing utilizing ProTools, or similar software.
- High level of professional audio and video editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite tools, and Tele stream ScreenFlow.
- Demonstrated excellence in project and/or team management experience with a focus on music education projects using shared collaborative approaches and tools such as AirTable, Frame.io, and/or other similar software.
- High level of experience with and an advanced knowledge of music theory, music business, and music production technologies.
- Demonstrated excellence in developing creative projects and an understanding of the entire creative process from ideation to distribution especially in relation to key creative and accessibility requirements for online music education.
*EXPERIENCE MAY BE GAINED CONCURRENTLY.
