The post holder will be part of the Supported Internship programme working in partnership with BCP Council and an Education provider to deliver the specific Supported Internship programme to interns.
The Supported Internship trainer provides individualised support for interns during the internship rotation in order for the interns to acquire competitive and marketable skills.
The post holder will be based at Poole College and work within the community with multiple employers. Interns are young adults who have a learning disability and / or autism. Interns are recruited by all three parties over the summer months, in readiness to start the programme in September. This role works to the academic year so is mainly term time.
The successful candidates will work term time only which equates to 41 working weeks. This will offer the successful candidate a good work life balance.
The hours are 33.42 when working during term time and the pro-rata salary equates to £23,825.95. Full time salary £26,734.68

About the role
- To facilitate the training and integration of a student with disabilities in a worksite rotation and/or competitive work environment.
- Communicates effectively with the skills trainers, internship department managers /mentors, co-workers, family members, and college personnel as it relates to the student being trained.
- Perform specific task analysis, especially when students are challenged to learn and perform tasks to a productive and quality level.
- Assist with completing the Vocational Profile to determine the abilities of the intern, the demands of the internship tasks and assist the team to make meaningful matches
About you
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience of supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism
- The ability to use a variety of software packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Email, databases)
- Knowledge of how to respond to a variety of situations and problem solve using own initiative.
- Experience of meeting targets and deadlines
