MID-CAREER SYSTEMS ENGINEERS

These engineers have experience in specific lifecycle phases, as well as an understanding of the full lifecycle. They develop their expertise, grow their breadth of knowledge, and mentor the next generation of systems engineers. Mid-career systems engineers come from a wide variety of experiences such as Cybersecurity, SIGINT, communications, and systems of systems or networking infrastructure. These professionals are adept at communicating with technical teams, and making recommendations to senior leadership that drive mission initiatives.

SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEERS

Seasoned professionals drive the Agency's largest and most challenging technical projects to ensure success. These engineers participate in technical decision-making, or function in an advisory role. Working in collaborative teams, these professionals define and manage technical requirements throughout product lifecycle; identify and manage technical program risk; evaluate the architectural design for efficiency improvements; capture, analyze and recommend updates to the enterprise and mission architectures to ensure resiliency; design and enforce configuration management and interoperability standards; and define, manage and perform testing and evaluation. Senior Systems Engineers mentor other systems engineers in their tradecraft, which lays the foundation for future successes.

As the Chief of the Reactor Inspection Branch, you will manage the NRC's oversight of commercial power reactors, including those under construction through inspection, policy development, coordination, implementation, assessment, and enhancement. 

This includes providing primary program management and supervision for the reactor oversight and construction reactor oversight processes (ROP) with an emphasis on improving the safety and risk focus of inspections and assessment activities.  You will also oversee the development of inspection related program guidance for NRC inspections of commercial nuclear power facilities, including operating facilities and future advanced reactor oversight programs

Lead, develop, interpret, and enforce ODNI facility policies and building operation guidelines and manage the preparation of reports and information required by ODNI, Office of Management Budget (OMB), Congress, and other government agencies.

Lead the development of and monitor the status of structured recommendations on facility operational improvements that comply with applicable Executive Orders, regulations, and statutes.

As a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Reviewing, approving and signing all divisional Statement of Reasons, intended to deny or revoke an individual's security clearance eligibility.
• Reviewing responses to Statements of Reasons and rendering adjudicative determinations on an individual's security clearance eligibility.
• Approving requests for additional investigation and responds to unusual and/or complex issues raised by commanding officers, special security officers, security managers and/or individuals affected by the agency actions.
• Reviewing complex adjudicative decisions made by a large number of certified developmental and senior specialists whose sole purpose is to make security clearance eligibility and suitability and fitness determinations.

• Assists in directing and coordinating textile testing activities for the Midshipmen Store, the Midshipmen Food Services Division, Public Works Department and Uniform Officer pertaining to color, fastness, dry cleaning, durability of garments, etc. No new uniforms are adopted until incumbent completes these tests
• Responsible for economical, efficient and timely door to door pickup and delivery service of all laundry and dry cleaning to the Brigade of Midshipmen and organizational customers
• Responsible for timely and accurate receipt, accountability, storage and issue of all other uniform garments and other clothing items worn by the Brigade of Midshipmen throughout year. These items must be completely processed through the cleaning system prior to storage. This poses an additional challenge for incumbent because this workload must be funneled through the plant along with all other normal daily throughput
• Assists in other functions of the NABSD Program as assigned
• Walking up and down stairs, observing, working with hands and conducting onsite inspections is required.
• The incumbent spends an equal amount of time in office setting and on the shop floor in a plant environment. In the plant environment, the temperatures and noise levels are high and vary considerably.
