Who We Are
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
The Finance Directorate operates under a Finance Business Partnering ethos to support NES in delivering their strategic objectives and in the management of its £600m annual budget within a robust and proportionate governance structure.
This role will sit within the Finance Business Partnering team and will provide support to various functions within the organisation.

What We Love to See
Finance Managers offer a broad range of skills and experience, if you are CCAB or CIMA qualified (or recognised international equivalent) and can offer some or all of these, we’d love you to apply:
Proven experience of budget management and forecasting in a large, complex environment
A clear understanding of finance business partnering and how to support directorates to achieve their goals
Ability to confidently lead conversations to understand needs and take a proactive approach to planning and prioritising workload whilst maintaining accurate and up to date financial documentation
Ability to research, collate and analyse large data sets for reporting and decision making purposes
Ability to work collaboratively and flexibility to produce high quality outputs
Highly effective communicator knowing how to make complex financial information and language simple for a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
Ability to work on own initiative, to organise and prioritise workload and that of your team, and to meet strict deadlines
Line Management and coaching/mentoring experience

Next Steps
Our recruitment process for this post is currently remote and online, except for the interview stage, which will be in-person.
If successful you would initially work in our Edinburgh office for a number of days as part of your induction and learning. Once settled in the role, you will be able to work remotely or work from one of our NES offices (thereafter working in a hybrid capacity). Please note, occasional presence at our Glasgow / Edinburgh office(s) is a requirement for this role.
