Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Directs and guides nursing assistants and other surgical technicians in completing routine assignments such as setting up rooms, managing equipment and supply carts, and coordinating care with other disciplines.
2. Sets up sterile field with all required items for each procedure such as air-powered equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment, microscopes, lasers, arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, recording devices, robotic equipment, and other operating room supplies and devices.
3. Plans and discusses each procedure with surgical professionals and assures that all supplies and equipment are available prior to the surgical procedure.
4. Participates in interdisciplinary care planning and implementation including pre-procedural verification and timeout.
5. Inspects and ensures instruments, supplies, and implants sterile and free of bio-burden and defects before use in patient care.
6. Practice Infection Control and Sharp Safety Standards.
7. Prepares biological implants according to manufacturers' instructions before transplanting and using on patients.
8. Manages surgical counts, medications, implants, specimens, and surgical asepsis without breach in technique or error.
9. Prepares, organizes, and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups.
10. Observes and responds promptly to each stage of the surgical procedure and anticipates the needs of the surgeon by maintaining a high level of concentration for extended periods of time.
11. Utilizes universal precautions and follows all infection control policies and procedures when handling specimens, supplies, and equipment.
12. Assists the team members with care of the patient, i.e., positioning, prepping, and obtaining supplies and equipment.
13. In conjunction with the circulating Registered Nurse (RN), performs surgical accounting to verify accuracy. Responsible for the accountability for all surgical instruments and equipment during the surgical procedure.
14. Assists the surgeon by performing such procedures as preparing skin grafts, suctioning, holding retractors, applying skin staples, and cutting sutures. Prepares prosthesis and surgical devices during procedures.
15. Assists in training residents, medical students, nursing students, operating room technology students, and new Operating Room (OR) staff in the operation of equipment, sterile technique, handling of instruments, and OR procedures to include the scrub role in surgical procedures.
16. Accounts for the availability of correct prosthetics in the room, follows established procedure regarding implant inventory and prosthetic tracking.
17. Assists in the implementation and utilization of the Generic Inventory Package to maintain adequate surgical supplies. This includes but not limited to re-stocking the OR cabinets, specialty carts, and other secondary storage containers.

• Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates activities necessary to the overall management of a diverse ground and weapons safety program affecting a complex multi-mission installation and tenant command organizations; plans investigations and analyzes mishaps and hazardous conditions to determine origin, causes, and contributing elements and prepares written evaluation reports concerning findings.
• Prepares supplements to regulations and manuals and develops specialized local regulations defining mishap prevention, handling, and storage procedures based on interpretation and/or adaptation of higher command instructions and policies formulated by other federal government agencies.

Summary:
You would be the staff psychiatrist at the Clear Lake Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, psychotherapy, and care coordination for a general psychiatric population.

Major Duties:

• Work with Veterans and family members from various socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds utilizing counseling skills.
