As a Director of Force Support, GS-0301-13, you will serve as the Force Support Squadron (FSS) Director and to exercise first and second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the FSS, manage the activities of the FSS, Commander Support Staff (CSS) and oversee the planning, direction, and timely execution of high visibility and high impact FSS programs. This PD can only be utilized when the DSG Commander is the full-time technician. The Director of Force Support makes independent technical and executive decisions for the squadron in all areas of functional responsibility. As a Biological Science Technician your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists in planning wildlife censuses and surveys such as establishing schedules and procedures to accomplish surveys. Independently carries out wildlife studies by following research methods and established procedures for accomplishing
  and reporting the work. Monitors and implement activities related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife. Monitors and assists in control of wildlife, plant disease outbreaks, pest plant control, mowing/seeding activities and vegetation removal. • Assists in planning plants surveys and recommends plant management practices.
  Assists in planning habitat management activities designed to monitor, control, and eradicate non-native or invasive plant species and/or limit plant disease outbreaks. Independently carries out plant studies by following research methods and

• Collects, assesses, and organizes biological and physical environment data from field investigations and reports findings to determine actual and potential impact on fish, wildlife or plant resources from development projects, restoration projects or habitat improvement projects.
• Provides basic information on fish and wildlife resources and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to groups and individuals.
• Operates farm tractors, light trucks, vehicles, small watercraft and various other equipment such as generators, radios, radio tracking equipment, water monitoring equipment, global positioning systems and cameras. Provides work direction and guidance to biological technicians and volunteers and YCC enrollees, including safe handling of tools and operation of motorized vehicles and watercraft.

• The incumbent participates in multifaceted plant studies, including carrying out a variety of research and survey methods, analyzing established data, and monitoring environmental elements such as temperature, humidity, etc., and how it impacts plant health. Uses field equipment including cameras, GPS equipment, binoculars, rangefinders and computers in order to capture survey data or for other records. Conducts and/or monitors grazing activities, water control structures, and/or management monitoring studies. Identifies native and exotic flora and fauna.
• Survey's location for invasive species populations. Works with the biologists to outline a plan to minimize or remove invasive species. Assists with invasive species removal projects, recording and submitting accomplishment data on the process of technical assistance and habitat restoration activities.
