Introduction

The role will sit within the Parliamentary Safety Team (PST) in the House of Commons Governance Office. The team is responsible for the provision of specialist advice, support and independent assurance that Parliament is managing safety sensibly, consistently, proportionately and effectively, and for the development and embedding of a positive safety culture across the wider Parliamentary community.

The Role

The role of the Head of Safety - Governance & Assurance (also known as Head of Governance and Assurance) is to lead the compliance, governance and assurance team members to develop and implement the Parliamentary Safety Management System (SMS), support the Deputy Director with the development and implementation of the bicameral safety strategy, and lead on the implementation of systems, policies and processes to ensure ongoing compliance to all relevant statutory and best practice requirements.

Responsibilities

1. To competently identify the nature of an infestation and the most appropriate treatment/ management techniques. This decision should be based on knowledge gained through formal training, legislative restrictions, species specific biology, environmental protection considerations and site data.

2. To carry out treatments and management techniques for infestations including traps, culls, deterrents, pesticides and biocides safely and humanely, in line with The British Pest Control Association (BPCA) Code of Practice.

3. To survey properties, internally and externally, including drains, and make recommendations for further repair works or structural considerations to overcome future infestations and mitigate the risk of spread between dwellings. Look Ahead Care and Support own and manage a mixed portfolio of properties across London and the Home Counties. The organisation accommodates customers with a range of support needs. The post holder will provide practical, analytical and administrative support to the different functions within the customer experience directorate. This includes working closely with the Senior Health and Safety Manager to process relevant documentation, policies, and procedures.

The role will take responsibility for the administration and maintenance of the incident and investigation system (RIVO) and will liaise with the Safeguarding Manager on making sure all required actions are followed up. The role also will lead on the administration of the Quality Management System (QMS) and following up on any actions which follow Quality Audits across services. The role will also have responsibility for following up on non-conformance across the different systems, and produce regular reports with available data.

What you'll do:

Assist with the management of the Look Ahead Health & Safety risk register and annual action plan.
Assist with occasional health and safety and quality audits to gain experience of operations in the field.
Champion the Health & Safety and Safeguarding departments intranet page and document control
Champion the RIVO system, ensuring incidents are reported correctly and manage the follow up actions.
Identify internal themes, trends and good practice emerging from incidents, quality reports and health and safety alerts
Manage the mailboxes across the teams, including H&S, Safeguarding and Quality, responding to any email queries and register this information for further investigation.
Support the processes Look Ahead needs to meet its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety, and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
Assist the Senior Health & Safety Manager in co-ordinating the administration and development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
Analyse and collate the results of Quality visits across the organisation, monitoring the return of improvement plans and self audits.

Location: Based at Royal London Hospital but will be required to travel to all sites within Barts Health NHS Trust

Our group of hospitals provide a huge range of clinical services to people in east London and beyond. We operate from four major hospital sites (The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham) and a number of community locations, including Mile End hospital. Around 2.5 million people living in east London look to our services to provide them with the healthcare they need.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Quality Assurance Officer, Band 6 at Pharmacy Technical Services within the Quality team based at Royal London Hospital Pharmacy and Pathology Building (but will be required to travel to all sites within Barts Health NHS Trust).

The aim of this post is to provide patients with outstanding services from the Pharmacy Technical Services MS licenced units ASU (Aseptic Services Unit), Chemoteraphy Services Unit (CSU), Packagin Services Unit (PSU) and Quality support to Radiopharmacy and Nuclear medicine unit (RPU). The post holder will provide professional and technical supervision to the GMP manufacturing units, working with other department in these units to ensure all activities comply with current clinical, GMP, GCP and Quality guidelines


The post holder will work within the Quality Assurance team, focusing (but not limited to) on elements of the QMS (including the documentation system), as well as Micro and QC support such as environmental monitoring, laboratory practices and testing, and releasing of products manufactured under the MS licence, whenever required.

The post holder will be given training to become competent and will undertake developmental activities to enable them to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in a wide variety of Quality, Aseptic and Clinical Pharmacy activities.
