Your new role
Southend City Council's Fostering Support Team are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent Fostering experienced Senior Practitioner within the Support Team.
Within this position, you will provide an efficient, cost-effective assessment intervention and therapeutic service to young people and their families. Ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed. Managing cases of high sensitivity or complexity and providing a focus of specialist advice and professional consultation, to gather, investigate, evaluate and analyse all necessary information on assigned cases. Demonstrating clarity of assessments, reliability of information, evidenced conclusions and realistic action plans.

You will need to develop a practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having a full regard to their education, social, recreational and health. Ensuring that all case management complies with the statutory requirements and the council's policies and procedures.

The position is hybrid working, and you will be expected to be on site a minimum of 1 day a week. There will be a team meeting every other week and duty is to be undertaken in the office, approx 3 days a month.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a 3-year-post qualified recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You must have knowledge or direct experience of fostering practice and National Minimum Standards, have knowledge of trauma informed practice in relation to fostering, along with supervisory experience and knowledge of safeguarding and managing/overseeing complex caseloads.
Additional knowledge must demonstrate: understanding the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families and knowledge of methods of social work intervention.
Previous experience of staff management, supervision or practice teaching along with extensive experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting is a must for this post.

You will be shaping practice standards within the service, delivering positive outcomes collaboratively.Our Social Workers have unique mobile working technology initiatives and accessible management, and receive all the support they need to produce professional and comprehensive Pathway Plans for young people who come under the responsibility of Southend City Council. Working to the highest standards, you will investigate, evaluate and analyse case information to provide expert, well-evidenced assessments and realistic plans tailored to the individual needs of young people.You will be expected to be thorough in your record-keeping and insightful in your casework consultations. What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You will need to have a detailed knowledge of young people, leaving care, looked after children and associated child in need social work practice issues. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations guidance & policy issues are also required for this position.Additional knowledge must be demonstrated in: understanding the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families and knowledge of methods of social work intervention. Previous experience of staff management, supervision or practice teaching along with extensive experience of applying assessment skills within a statutory social work setting is a must for this post.

Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time permanent Qualified Social Worker for their Children Looked After Team (CLA).
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, a flexible approach is required as you will be required to be on site and travel around the city, as and when needed.
*This position attracts the added incentive of a one-off payment of £7,500, after you have been employed in this post for 3 years and 1 day.

The CLA team work with children once care proceedings have concluded. There is some court work around revocation of care orders, contact disputes and making adoption orders, therefore some experience of court work would be preferable.You will be required to provide an efficient and cost-effective service to children, young people and their families, ensuring that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are professionally assessed. Investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence conclusions and realistic action plans.Ensure adequate recording that evidences practice and develops practice that takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in both their immediate and extended social circles, and having full regard to their overall development needs. Ensure that all case management complies with the statutory requirements and the Council's policies and procedures.

You will need to prepare and submit written reports as and when required, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings, County and High Courts.Nowhere else will you gain as much experience on the job, making us a sought-after place to work. Knowledge of methods of social work intervention and relevant legislation, regulations, guidance & policy issues.
Understanding of the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families, contemporary knowledge of social work & their social work applications, i.e. attachment theory, enabling change, behaviour management. Your new role
Southend-on-Sea Council's Fostering Support Team are looking to appoint a permanent, full-time Supervising Social Worker to train, assess, supervise and support Foster Carers in their role of looking after children and young people. Ensuring that the highest professional standards and a good overall knowledge of relevant children's and fostering legislation, regulations and practice methods are met.You will provide an efficient service to children, young people, their families and fostering families, ensuring that the needs of children and their parents and carers are professionally assessed. You will be required to investigate, evaluate and analyse information on cases, demonstrating clarity of assessment, reliability of information, evidence in conclusions and realistic action plans. As well as this, you will need to develop practice which takes a holistic view of the individual, locating them in their immediate and extended social circles and having full regard to their overall development needs.

The team have an average of 15 cases per person.Duty will be undertaken in the office approx 3 days a month, with an on-site team meeting every other week. The post is hybrid, but you will be expected to be on site a minimum of 1 day a week.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.You will need to have two years experience of working with foster carers and have a working knowledge of fostering regulations and national minimum standards.You will need strong communication skills and be able to organise yourself and others. In addition, you will need to possess a driving licence and have use of a car.
