Drive the successful launch and provision of an innovative medicine in the Japanese market through an efficient and effective global supply chain by collaborating with internal Clinigen business units and external partners.
Plan, launch and manage the commercial activities for a unique and innovative neonatal nutritional drug in Japan (the first market to obtain approval for use as a drug). The partner, a U.S.-based company, is a scientifically driven company, a pioneer in its field in improving premature infant nutrition to change the standard of care for premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
Ensure that the best service is offered to healthcare professionals, patients, and other key stakeholders in an increasingly complex global business and product mix.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute the launch plan of a biologic product (nutritional drug) that has finished clinical trial in Japan and was submitted for J-NDA in summer 2024.
• Post launch, lead the development and execution of the sales and marketing strategy for the product.
• Meet or exceed sales target for the product in Japan. Budget and objectives are set by the project joint steering committee.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
• Collaborate proactively with Clinigen’s external partner and internal working groups to lead the continuous development of plans for engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs), and parent and patient groups ahead of the launch
• Pursue a cutting-edge, digital, omnichannel approach in line with where and how HCPs expect to receive information to enhance data-oriented communication with them
• Recruit, on-board, develop and manage a high-performing, collaborative Commercial team of Medical Representatives that works always in line with Clinigen and the partner’s values and within Japan regulatory requirements
• Set priorities for the Medical Rep team and other commercial and supporting resources
• Monitor and inform the Head of Commercial Medicines & Business Development and the partner’s team of market trends and how they will affect commercial sales of the product
• Manage the access and reimbursement strategy.
• Manage the relationship with Clinigen’s external partner’s marketing team
Skills and Experience Required:
- Entrepreneurial, pathfinder mindset to optimize the value of medicine in a patient-centric way
- Strategic thinker and planner with the ability to execute, adapt and follow through on plans
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, legal, marketing or business-related field
- Extensive experience working in business development within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience leading a sales or marketing team in pharmaceutical products or medical devices in Japan
- Experience in value, solution and complex selling
- Ability to market medicinal products to clinical users (not only prescribers)
- Broad personal network of specific senior Pharma, pharmacist bodies, patient organizations and regulator contacts to enhance the new business pipeline
- Ability to read, write and actively participate in meetings in English
- Data-driven and analytical, with a logical approach to business planning to identify and leverage opportunities
- Highly articulate, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presenting ability
- Proactive and solutions-driven, with a high level of accountability and ownership for driving results through people
- Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to collaborate effectively on projects with mutually beneficial outcomes
- Strong English and cross-cultural skills – ability and flexibility to communicate efficiently with US/internationally based partner team.
