Job Description

• Maintain a safe, clean and tidy laboratory environment.

• Ensure that all apparatus and equipment are safe and clean for use.

• Maintain laboratory equipment, apparatus, materials and specimens

in good working condition.

• Report all faulty machines and equipment immediately, and display

an “Out of Order” sign prominently on the machines/equipment.

• Ensure that all glass apparatus or breakages are disposed of

appropriately.

• Ensure that Bunsen burners and high risk items (data loggers and

microscopes) are properly kept and under lock and key.

• Inspect Bunsen burners to ensure they are in good condition.

• Keep a stock book and breakage record to indicate necessary

replacement.

• Check and replenish first aid supplies.

• Aid Science teachers in preparing resources for laboratory lessons.

• Aid Science teachers during laboratory lessons, when required.

• Aid Science teachers with the clearing up after laboratory lessons,

when required

Scope of work:

• Prepare materials for daily lessons, department noticeboard displays, regular department programmes such as competition and external school activities, perform gardening duties related to science curriculum and provide support for ad-hoc science programmes
• Clean and organise science equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of science labs
• Manage and organise inventory list
• Provide logistical support in department and school programmes
• Support in administrative work, Microsoft applications - excel, word
• Able to keep calm and work in dynamic environment
• Assist with planting/greening activities held in eco-garden and it’s routine maintenance.

Assist in preparation of Primary Science lessons in the Science lab, Science learning environments and Science events.

Assist in the use of dataloggers, microscopes and other resources during Science experiments.

Provide support in the maintenance of science equipment, where necessary.

Assist in administrative duties for Primary Science Competitions and other Science related activities

Assist the Science HOD in stock-taking, inventory, purchasing and other Science related matters with use of basic computing and applications (e.g emails and MS Office applications)

Assist in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the laboratories.

Any other tasks assigned by the school.

Mondays to Fridays: 7:00am to 3:30pm inclusive of 30 min lunch break

Job Description

o Manage and maintain proper inventory and

The Services required are set out as follows:

o Open and lock the doors and windows of laboratories to ensure

safety and security

o Maintain general cleanliness of equipment and workspaces

o Maintain general cleanliness of school premises

o Assist in the preparation of apparatus, equipment and chemical

reagents for Science Practical lessons

o Clean and maintain basic science laboratory apparatus, equipment

and materials

(a) Prepare the necessary apparatus and materials needed by the Science teachers before lessons; (b) Labelling and grouping of items for easy access, turn on necessary IT equipment before teacher is in the class; (c) Assisting teachers in supervision of students during lab work; (d) Maintaining the equipment and apparatus in the Science Rooms; (e) Maintaining the cleanliness of the Science Rooms; (f) Updating inventory list, identifying and condemning items which are not of working conditions; (g) Collating necessary materials to be purchased and liaising with the teachers; (h) Helping teachers to buy perishable items for Science experiments; (i) Assisting Science teachers in carrying out Science events, registration and collection of forms (if any); (j) Helping Head of Department (Science)’s work in the afternoons eg. collation of survey results, typing of simple forms, any other administrative duties as required; (k) Assisting as a safety chaperon e.g. during daily arrival and dismissal of students, chaperon to students going on external Learning Journeys, supervise students during recess play etc. (l) Assisting with any other assigned duties. (m) May be required to go into classroom to relief class if teacher is away

Job Description

1. Attend to operational and maintenance matters in Science Laboratories & Art Rooms;

2. Operate simple life science equipment;

3. Prepare and set up equipment and assist teachers in conducting experiment;

4. Prepare materials for Art lessons;

5. Maintains and updates data records including stocktaking of resources;

6. Perform other general administrative duties e.g. filing and typing;

7. Provide assistance in any other duties as assigned by the school and/or department.

The Services required are set out as follows:

The Services required include the following :

1. Liaise with teaching staff on their logistics for practical/performance tasks.

2. Preparation of laboratory practical / performance tasks, (prepare samples / specimens) including set-up and breakdown as per science level representative’s instructions.

3. Set up any laboratory equipment needed for the experiment, such as microscopes, test tubes and calibrated glass flasks for every workbook experimental activities.

4. Clean up any spills, wash the equipment and glassware, such as conical flasks, measuring cyclinders and beakers used by students. Report any breakage in the record book and update HOD Science.

5. Testing equipment beforehand so as to ensure a successful learning experience.

6. Maintain order and cleanliness of laboratories, stores and preparation areas.

7. Maintain stock records and equipment lists.

8. Assist in conducting monthly regular stock-take and inform HOD Science of any resources to purchase (if any is running low).

9. Ensure adequate supply of equipment and materials is always available.

10. Keeping track of materials borrowed by teachers and students.

11. Assisting the teachers in supervision of laboratory practical/performance tasks when needed.

12. Prepare other experimental set-ups for other programmes (Performance Task, E2K, competition preparations etc).

13. Prepare teaching and learning resources (eg science experiments, microscopic activities, new syallbus science SPARKLE Kits).

14. Assist in the Diversity Garden for any teaching & teaching lessons (Junior Botanist, CCA Science Environment Club etc)

15. Assist in any other administrative matters as instructed by HOD or School Leaders.

16. Be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft word to maintain stock take and equipment list.

17. Support science teachers in preparation of SPARKLE Kits for experiments.

Job Description

1. Prepare resources / equipment for Science lesson experiments.

2. Assist teachers in matters pertaining to resources during lessons.

3. Record keeping of the usage of science labs, resources and activities to be completed.

Job Description

• To collate items to be replenished for teaching and learning of science

Job Description

a) As directed by the teachers-in-charge, prepare and set up apparatus, equipment and other materials for practical lessons. Retrieve,clear away and clean apparatus and equipment, including safe disposal of waste after the lessons.

(b) Provide direct technical support to the teaching and learning of science (and maths) in the three science laboratories; carry out risk assessments together with the teachers whenever appropriate or necessary, to ensure safety.

(c) Keeping the three science labs & its preparation room clean, sanitised, safe, well-organised and clutter-free. Ensure the three labs are safe and secure when not in use.

(d) Maintaining the scientific instruments, and ensuring that supplies are accessible for teachers to use for lessons. Report to the HODs of Science and Mathematics for these:

• Assist with the establishment and maintenance of Science (& Maths) Departments’ resources.

• Monitor and manage stock-taking of equipment and resource materials.

• Check deliveries & reorder essential items as necessary.

• Carry out and arrange for the maintenance and repair of apparatus and equipment. Upkeep required records and logs of all maintenance and servicing of equipment.

(e) Perform simple administrative and office work such as maintaining records and inventory stock lists, preparing labels and posters for science labs and liasing with vendors for quotations for items ordered.

(f) Operate and maintain basic office equipment and material.

(g) Any other jobs assigned by the school such as covering reception duties, packing of resources, or supporting the adhoc tasks needed for special school events and etc.
