What will I do in this position if hired?
In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Insurance Examiner. Typical assignments include:
- Supervising a team with a diverse set of skills and roles, including insurance examiner expertise, program analysis, process improvement, casework management, and customer support, all in support of insurance policyholders during the claims appeals process.
- Serving as a senior representative for the Federal Insurance Directorate with contractor staff, insurance companies and their industry advisory groups, and others in the interpretation of policy matters within the National Flood Insurance Program.
- Overseeing daily operations of the appeals team, and coordinate short-term and long-term enhancements to program support.
- Supporting program decisions, and serve as an advisor to senior leadership in the Federal Insurance Directorate.
- Soliciting feedback and support the strengthening of relationships between FEMA and its insurance industry partners, including insurance companies, flood vendors, independent adjusting firms, and other professional organizations supporting the flood insurance business and the National Flood Insurance Program.

Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
