Major Duties:

This position provides oversight for a variety of software programs integral to the overall administration, equipment packages, and operations of medical service. Collects physical and data security needs for the service areas. It also is the point of contact for OI&T for information technology initiative for hardware and software needs for the service.

Controls critical applications, (i.e. Clinical Procedures (CP), Home Oxygen, Oncology/OncoTrax, and Clinical Case Registries). Reviews all software upgrades for medical service programs within VISTA. Provides training and troubleshooting for clinical and administrative staff regarding use of these programs and any upgrades.

Responsible for the coordination and training for service staff in clinical and functional areas for various information technology VISTA packages, e.g.; Consult Tracking; PCE (Patient Care Encounter and Visit Tracking); ACRP (Ambulatory Care Reporting); TIU (Text Integration Utilities); and additional VISTA programs as added.

Test, debug and maintain software applications that meet functional requirements.

Plans, Formulates, and Implements National Policy and Programming: Assist with the development and sustainability of the forensic healthcare program to enhance the capacity of the Indian health system to provide high-quality multidisciplinary services and support for patients presenting for forensic healthcare and related services in collaboration with and as delegated by the Forensic Nurse Consultant. Provide recommendations to supervisors and senior leaders on forensic healthcare, projects, services, issues and trends. Serve as a coordinator for sexual assault policy implementation and monitoring.

Evaluates and Analyzes Program Effectiveness: Analyze existing or proposed systems, strategies, services, or other health related matters for forensic healthcare in conjunction with the Forensic Nurse Consultant. The BHIP Nurse works closely within an interdisciplinary team framework to help foster independent living through appropriate management of the client's mental illness by providing assessments, planning, interventions and evaluation of treatment. Mental health treatment provided is documented within prescribed guidelines in CPRS.

Duties include but not are not limited to:

• Assist Veterans in the following ways: Provide Veterans and their family members with education regarding their illness, medications and treatment plan.

This is a career ladder progression position; the duties described below are at the GS-11 level. Work Environment: The incumbent inspects and/or investigates both surface and underground mining operations as applicable, which is a very hazardous and stressful work environment surrounded by a high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations. In addition to the characteristically dark, wet, and cramped environment, underground mines contain noxious gases and fumes, and the danger of potentially explosive dust or gases, electrical fires, roof falls, and exposure to radiation.
