Student Trainee (Office Administration OA) Duties GS-0399-05/07:

This position is located in the Office of the Executive Director, Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES), Department of State. The Executive Office provides extensive management, administrative, general services, procurement, financial, security, emergency planning, and information technology services to the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES), the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL), the Office of the Science and Technology Advisor to the Secretary (E/STAS),  and the Arctic Council (AC).

Performs office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail , desk- top publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, database, and/or graphics, to track Congressional correspondence. Perform other duties as assigned.

At the GS-4 level, you will:

• Collects data from reference sources in office and incorporates it into typed/computer generated material.
• Proofreads all material, corrects grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors.

• Reviewing, reformatting, and editing solicitation statements of work using Word documents and assembling/converting various Word/Excel documents into an Adobe version of the solicitation.
• Aiding in preparing negotiations and in recording receipt of bids, offers, and other offer data.
• Responding to vendor and staff inquiries.
• Tracking progress of solicitations, contracts, and task orders through the solicitation process; updating spreadsheets; and maintaining contract/task order electronic files.

This position is located in the Acquisitions and Contracts Branch of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Eastern Federal Lands Highway (EFLHD) located in Ashburn, VA. EFLHD provides transportation and engineering services to Federal agencies to include planning, design, construction, and rehabilitation of federally-owned highways and bridges. The ideal candidate for this position works well in a team environment and is interested in learning and applying procurement laws, regulations, and policies and performing a variety of procurement tasks and can work full-time in the office during the summer.

Major Duties:
The incumbent is responsible for the operation and supervision of the carpenter shop, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of infrastructure systems which serve the entire Medical Center and SCBOC. Infrastructure systems includes, but is not limited to carpentry, locks, door's hardware, fire and smoke barrier doors, windows, masonry, walls, flooring, ceiling, roofs, light pulps, light switches, light outlets, and cove base. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and managing in house construction projects. Oversee maintenance, repair and installations of carpentry millwork, suspended ceiling systems, masonry walls, sheet rock walls, cover base, doors, windows, locks, doors hardware, locking mechanisms, tile flooring, ceramic flooring, carpeting, fire proffering, stairs, concrete work, taping, compounding, and roofing systems. In addition, the Carpenter Supervisor is administratively responsible for all aspects of the Carpentry/Masonry/Locksmith Unit, including employee performance, training, and work assignments, adverse actions, awards and other personnel issues associated at the first level of supervision.

Planning

• Plans the use of workers, equipment, facilities, material and tools on a day-to-day or project-by-produce basis.
• Adheres to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by higher level supervisors.
• Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments.
