Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will assist to plan and execute research studies to better understand the impact of heat on various populations. Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Programme aims to pioneer the development and discovery of new and more effective methods for the treatment, prevention and control of new and emerging pathogens. The National University of Singapore invites applications for research assistant/associates in the Multimodal Neuroimaging in Neuropsychiatric Disorders Laboratory (MNNDL), Centre for Sleep and Cognition, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The MNNDL group at NUS studies the human neural bases of cognitive functions and the associated vulnerability patterns in aging and neuropsychiatric disorders using multimodal neuroimaging and psychophysical techniques. We are interested in the large-scale brain structural and functional networks in healthy developing and aging brain and symptoms-related changes in diseases such as neurodegenerative disorders and psychosis. Statistical, computational, and machine learning methods are developed to analyze and fuse multimodal neuroimaging data. By integrating longitudinal behavior, neuroimaging, and genotype data, our long-term goal is to investigate the interactions among brain network dynamics, behavior, diseases, and genotypes to develop non-invasive biomarkers for early detection, differential diagnosis, progression monitoring, and treatment design.

Key attractions are access to a high-performance computing cluster, two 3T Prisma MR scanner and a MR compatible digital EEG system as well as collaboration opportunities with an excellent network of domestic and international scientists and doctors. Purpose of the post

The Scope

You will be part of Esco Aster’s Analytical Development team and contribute to the company’s CDMO mission and objectives. You will carry out analytical development activities in support of drug substance and product manufacturing and testing. Your work will require close collaboration with the process development scientists and manufacturing team.

Reporting to: Head of Scientific & Sales Operations

Responsibilities

· Carry out Analytical Development experiments including synthesis, purification and analytical lab work.

· Support the development and validation of analytical methods, instruments and tools.

· Prepare high quality written experimental reports and analytical test reports, and present to supervisors including proactively recommend paths forward based on analysis.

· Be involved and contribute to creation of protocols and technical reports.

· Support the technology transfer of analytical methods to downstream teams, such as QC department or applicable operating department, including provision of necessary training.

· Assist in lab duties and administrative work including procurement, record keeping, maintenance of lab equipment etc.

· Keep up with interest in scientific principles, appreciate the need for detailed analysis and documentation.

· Exercise scientific creativity and independent thought in research & process development.

· Perform tasks in accordance with applicable regulations and site safety requirements.

· Undertake tasks assigned by leaders as and when appropriate.

Requirements

· Degree in Life Sciences or related disciplines.

· Minimum 2 years work experience in a science laboratory.

· Experience with good laboratory practices (GLP) will be an advantage

· Familiar with biological assays (Western blot, SDS gels, PCRs, ELISA, protein assays etc.) and/or physic-chemical analysis (UV/IR/Raman/MS Spectroscopy, HPLC, LCMS etc.)

· Familiar with cell culture, aseptic technique and analytical method development will be an advantage.

· Ability to plan and perform experiments in an interdisciplinary environment independently and efficiently.

· Proficient in MS Office Suite (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

· Able to work independently, self-starter, self-motivated and task oriented.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong team player, develop positive relationship with a strong set of interpersonal skills.

· During the start-up phase of the team/facility, be willing to take on expanded role to set up workflow/processes as needed.

Job Description:

• Prepare experimental setups for all lab activities and trial theexperiments and modify the experiments, when required, prior to the Science curriculum/enrichment lessons and Science CCA.
• Prepare additional apparatus for teachers who wish to carry out additional Science activities and be on hand to help out during Science Workshops conducted by the school.
• Assist with the purchase of materials required for experiments forboth Science curriculum lessons/enrichment and Science CCA in alignment with budget requirements.
• Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of the two Science Labs.
• Conduct stock-taking of all apparatus and resources belonging to the Science department at least twice a year.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of classes into and out of the Science labs.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of any broken/condemnation of apparatus and chemicals for the Science labs.
• Preparation of the Outdoor and Indoor Hydroponics/Urban Farming Facility for planting and harvesting followed by cleaning of the facility in preparation for the next harvest.
• Monitoring of the Science Ecological Gardens and assist in replacement of plants where required.
• Maintanence of the Laboratory Aquariums (which includes thechange of water and assist in replacement of plants and livestock where required).
• Prepare materials and tools required for makerspace recess activities and workshops
• Manage and maintain makerspace equipment, including 3D printers, digital cutters and other tools.
• Provide technical support and assistance to makerspace users regarding equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the makerspace.
• Support in miscellaneous administrative school matters required by the HOD/LH Science/School Admin.
• May also be deployed to help other departments in the school or school events/activities, should the need arise.

Work Schedule:

• Monthly Salary: $2600/Month
• Contract Period: From 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Dec 2025

• Working Hours:

 Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 4:45pm, inclusive of 1 hr lunchbreak

 Fridays: 7:30am to 4:15pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break

 Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted publicholidays

Job Requirement:

• Basic knowledge of IT applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).
• Able to multi-task and able to handle a fast paced environment.
• Preferably at least 3 years of working experience in a school environment and have some basic knowledge of laboratory, chemicals and apparatus.
