What are the opportunities?
We have a strong pipeline of projects Offshore/Onshore and Hydro as part of our ambitious £12.5bn net capital investment plan. This new programme will see SSE enable delivery of over a quarter of the UKs 40GW wind target by 2030 supporting progress to towards net zero.
We're looking for experienced Procurement & Commercial Managers (Ideally Quantity Surveying Discipline Focused) to join our Offshore Renewables Procurement and Commercial team to support the SSE Renewables project pipeline opportunities in the UK, Ireland and internationally to develop the design, and delivery of commercially successful bids and strategies.
The role of the Procurement & Commercial Manager can encompass projects across all stages of the development process from inception of the project right through to hand over of completed projects to the Operation and Maintenance teams.
The key role for the Procurement & Commercial Manager is to identify value opportunities throughout the development cycle in order to achieve a Lowest Cost of Energy that will support project success. You'll have the opportunity to use your experience to support the wider project team on a wide range of procurement and commercial issues to challenge yourself through dealing first hand with the complexities of large-scale projects and also play an important role in delivering renewable energy targets in the drive for a net zero carbon future.
What will you need?
Ideally, we are looking for individuals who are degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification and may either have, or be working towards, professional membership of a relevant technical or professional body, for example the MRICS, MCIARB however applications from candidates with demonstrable experience as described below are also welcomed.
We have several opportunities: Lead Project P&C Mgr /Package Procurement and Commercial Manager (turbine/offshore) and Bid P&C mgr
We would also love you to have;
- Demonstrable experience of managing Procurement & Commercial function (full value chain) delivery on large onshore or offshore projects (>£50m) including:
- Detailed understanding of commercial value drivers within large offshore wind projects and how to support complex business cases.
- Understanding of the markets, support contracts, regions, commodities and services the Renewables Business requires
Developing robust pricing assumptions, Cost estimates, strong commercial & contract strategies to enhance business case opportunities for new and existing markets.
- Previous experience in an operational multifaceted business with an understanding of supply chain concepts and how to improve them.
- Sound commercial awareness, excellent communication and negotiating skills and strong problem-solving abilities to maximise value delivery from supply chain.
- Demonstrable stakeholder engagement (internal and external) and P&C managements skills are essential, as is the ability to influence, lead and resolve disputes and problem solve.
