SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Education Program Manager at National Defense University for the China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI); support the vision of the CASI Director; develops and evaluates curricula, teaching procedures, and educational materials on Chinese aerospace activities for the Department of the Air Force; directs and conducts formal, informal, and agile education for the National Defense University, the DoD, and other schools as directed; supports research on Chinese aerospace activities; conducts engagement and outreach with external partners in government, industry, and academia; provides direction and leadership to local CASI staff. The Education Specialist assists the Exhibits and Education staff in educational programs that fulfill the CVC’s mission. This includes developing new educational programs for the visiting public (adults, families, students, groups and international visitors), teaching or delivering educational programs, assisting with the evaluation of educational programs, identifying necessary supplies, organizing the storage of educational supplies and working with special events staff to arrange spaces for educational activities. Work on weekends, evenings and holidays is required, as needed.

The individual selected for this position will:

Educational Program Development and Work

• Present existing educational programs and develop and facilitate new educational programs that fulfill the mission of the CVC.
• Work with other Education Specialists; Educational Program Manager; Adult, Family, and Youth Program Coordinator; Exhibits and Education Division; Volunteer Coordinator and other Visitor Services staff to implement educational programs and projects in line with AOC policies and CVC procedures and practices.
• Develop and offer formal and informal educational programs and hands-on activities for various audiences; Exhibition Hall and Democracy Lab; and other venues including assisting with volunteer training, creating content for interpretive signs and coordinating materials preparation and classroom, cart or venue set-up. Ensures that programs are compliant with accessibility objectives and follows safe work practices.
• Communicate the significance of Congress to everyday life, the role of citizens in a democratic process, and the evolving understanding of “We the People” to visitors (adults, families, students, groups and international visitors) through programs, carts, presentations, tours, hands-on activities, workshops and family days or events. Develops programs and teach using inquiry-and object-based learning techniques.
• Facilitate discussion with and among visitors in order to engage them with Exhibition Hall and Democracy Lab themes and content through programs and activities.
• Assist with project review and program analysis including assembling documentation such as written materials, digital files, photographs and participant evaluations. Develop content for website, brochures, handouts, activity sheets and curriculum for review by the Exhibits and Education team. Educational Program Administration and Collaboration 

• Develop goals, objectives and planning for educational programs, as well as hands-on activities for family days, event days and other large programs.
• Ensure that developed programs adhere to the impact statement and interpretation plan for Exhibition Hall and Democracy Lab.

• Achieves well-organized storage and cataloging of educational supplies and develops a regular schedule for inventorying supplies.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the lead Training Specialist and subject matter expert for all mission-critical accident investigative and technical training agencywide.

Duties performed:

• Developing a comprehensive curriculum for training accident investigators and technical support personnel to be implemented utilizing a variety of platforms (i.e. in-person, virtual, interactive multimedia, job aids, on-the-job training facilities, etc.).

The Associate Director Education supports the Deputy Director and the Senior Consultant for Operations in overseeing SPP Education and is responsible for coordinating and supporting VHA's National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide and develops national suicide prevention training and education as well as recommends policy, programming and planning actions, and strategic guidance for suicide prevention for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Associate Director Education provides support to the operationalization of the VA's 10-year National Strategy and its four major domains (Healthy & Empowered Communities, Clinical & Community Prevention Services, Treatment & Support Services, Surveillance, Research & Evaluation) through the SP NOW initiative.

The incumbent is responsible for the advancement of the translation of new suicide prevention initiatives into educational resources across the VA system and works closely with the Rocky Mountain MIRECC and VISN 2 CoE for Suicide Prevention in the translation process. The Associate Director Education is responsible for ensuring national rollout of initiatives are in alignment with implementation science principles and include interface with a wide range of clinical and administrative offices within VHA. These initiatives embody the mission to make "suicide prevention everyone's business" by co-leading the integration of suicide prevention into the broad VHA health care continuum.

The Associate Director Education will provide primary leadership to the Education team within the SPP office, leading the national suicide prevention education and training program as well as development of a policy and legislative agenda. The work directed is, administrative, technical, and complex. The incumbent adheres to local and national VA policies, often consulting with peers on professional and technical matters. The incumbent assists the Senior Consultant of Operations with complex reviews of effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of suicide prevention office efforts and develops detailed plans, goals, and objectives for the long-range implementation and administration of the program, which has wide ranging impact on other VA and national level programming.
