DUTIES:

This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Norfolk International Airport (ORF), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement. They are subject to continuous standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. May be required to work on ladders and use powered cleaning equipment. They frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift or move objects weighing more than 40 pounds with the assistance of others.

Performs all or a variety of the following duties, either regularly or on a rotating basis.

1. Prepares and assembles food products in accordance with computerized or other basic recipes for quick service carryout area of the dining room and in support of addition food services. Includes, but not limited to, preparation of hot items, sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, salads, other side dishes, and beverages. Requisitions needed food and non-food items from the Subsistence/ Supply Section in accordance with established policies and procedures. Prepares foods in accordance with forecasted demand or other established standards. Packages food in individual containers and stores food properly. • Assures front line contact with patients and staff by setting the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services at the VA.
