The Communications Manager role will help coordinate and deliver communications for one of our operational regions. Working with teams across communications and other directorates, you will help coordinate communications to customers and stakeholders across a range of channels.
The role will be based in the Yorkshire North East region in either our Leeds or Darlington office.
What you’ll be leading on
Provide high quality communications support helping to ensure that all communications are aligned to the National Highways Communications Strategy and cross-cutting campaigns.
Support development and delivery of communications plans working with specialist functions across Communications and ensure activity is regularly evaluated.
Work with colleagues from across the business to develop a good understanding of region / business area, our role in it and the benefits we bring to customers, business, and communities.
Horizon scan for potential reputational risks and opportunities, working with senior leads and managers to develop plans and processes to mitigate these.
Help manage regional social media channel, engaging the online community and working with the Content & Social Media team to share and coordinate content.
To be successful you’ll need
Good communications planning skills to help bring our work to life
A good team player, able to work in fast-moving, high-pressure environments
Able to make connections between those living, working and visiting your regions and the work of teams across the business
Ability to build trusted relationships, both externally and internally
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Understanding of an operational environment would be useful but not essential
