An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research & Development Directorate to join us as a Research Nurse working on our Cardiovascular portfolio. You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies in Cardiology and Stroke and also providing research support to investigators. This post will enable you to gain clinical knowledge and skills around a variety of specialist conditions through working closely with the consultants and specialist nurses and multi-disciplinary teams.

A central part of the role will be to ensure that you provide excellent research monitoring and care to patients who have consented to participate in research and that the research/clinical teams you work with are appropriately trained, supported and developed within their professional/research roles. An important aspect of the role will be the maintenance of highly accurate and comprehensive records of data derived from the research studies.

Within this post you will develop processes and systems for maximising the recruitment of patients to academic and commercial studies and will ensure that research patients/participants are monitored, supported and receive the highest level of research nursing care. You will work across a range of studies including observational research, novel drug therapy and clinical interventions. Under the direction of the Lead Consultants, Team Leader and Senior Research Nurses you will coordinate the clinical aspects of trials, participate in the recruitment and follow up of patients with responsibility for the assessment, planning and on-going care and safety of the research participants throughout their study journey. The post holder will be required to work autonomously with supervision and guidance of the Team Leader and Senior Research Nurses.

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to participate in the European research project funded under the Horizon Program “HouseInc – Inclusive, affordable and sustainable housing for marginalized communities.”

HouseInc develops on understanding housing inequalities across a number of European countries, with a strong focus on marginalized communities such as refugees, and will co-produce solutions to reduce housing inequalities. The successful applicant will apply advanced data science techniques and analyze large data sets such as the European Social Survey (ESS) to understand wider impacts of housing inequalities, with a focus on health outcomes. They will also create overheating scenarios for selected case dwellings / countries for the present und different future climatic scenarios.



About you

We are looking for a passionate individual who is committed to conducting outstanding research with the potential for real-world impact who has an appropriate research track record for their career stage. A PhD in data science, building science, climate science or equivalent experience and some programming experience (e.g. Python, R) is required.



The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will have the opportunity to lead on research outputs and dissemination activities and will be embedded in a network of interdisciplinary European research partners.

You will be responsible for delivering and clinically managing your own portfolio of academic and commercial research studies in these specialty areas and also providing expert research support to investigators. Research Department

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has a well-established research infrastructure running in excess of 300 studies across many specialities across the three Trust sites and also provides an outreach research service into the community.
