We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team at Winterbourne Academy on a Permanent Contract, starting on 6th January 2025.
The post-holder will play an important role in supporting the teaching staff within the Science Department and in ensuring the safe and proper use and maintenance of resources and equipment. They will provide technical and administrative support to teaching staff in Science Department, including some in-class support with student activities.
The Science Faculty delivers the full range of courses to A level, with significant numbers of students following the science pathway across groups of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Applied Science.

You will be working as part of the Science team based at Patchway Community School, you will be expected to provide specialist support to teaching staff, including in-class support with student activities and to work without direct supervision as agreed with the Curriculum Team Leader for Science. You will have a relevant vocational or academic qualification or practical experience in a Science related activity. ICT skills are essential. JOB DESCRIPTION: Science Technician
PAY SCALE: Grade 10 £24,702 - £25,979 FTE (£22,336 - £23,491 pro rata)
HOURS OF WORK: Permanent, Full time, Term Time only plus INSETs plus 2 weeks
CLOSING DATE: 09:00 am on Tuesday 4th June 2024
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and adaptable full time Science Technician to work Term Time only plus 15 days. You will be working as part of the Science team based at Patchway Community School, you will be expected to provide specialist support to teaching staff, including in-class support with student activities and to work without direct supervision as agreed with the Curriculum Team Leader for Science. You will have a relevant vocational or academic qualification or practical experience in a Science related activity. ICT skills are essential. We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible and enjoys working in a practical environment.
The post holder may also from time to time be asked to help Technicians from other departments.

To summarise, this role will provide administrative support to the R&I Department Senior Managers; Head of R&I Professional Service, Research Matron and the Academic Services Manager including co-ordination of diaries, planning meetings, circulation of papers Provide clerical support to the R&I Department Professional Services team including co-ordination of diaries, planning meetings, circulation of papers Provide support with procurement orders. Systematic filing of documentation within the Trust electronic shared drive and the EDGE platform Assist with maintaining good communication both with the Trust and externally. The post holder will be a self-motivated individual with the ability to work flexibly within a team and work on own initiative, adaptable to change, making decisions where appropriate, with the ability to prioritise and organise own workload with some supervision. Commitment to team working and to have respect and consideration for the skills of others. Must be self-motivated to undertake continuing professional development (CPD). Science Laboratory Technician –Chemistry
37 Hours per week – TTO + 1 week holiday working.
Salary: Grade 4 points 6-8, £23,893-£24,702
Actual pro-rata salary (£17,870-£18,475)
Chosen Hill School would like to appoint a Laboratory Technician to provide technical support to the Chemistry department within the science faculty. Previous experience of working in a school laboratory environment would be advantageous and an A level (or equivalent) in Chemistry is a requirement.
The Science Technicians play a key role in the success of the Science department, and you will be a member of a team of five technicians who support all aspects of the science curriculum from KS3 to KS5. The ability to work well in a team as well as be self-motivating is a requirement.
