The post
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr. Charles Downing and his theoretical research group in quantum optics, nanophotonics and condensed matter. This Royal Society funded post is available for around 8 months with a start date from November 2024 (at the earliest) to January 2025 (at the very latest). The end date cannot be later than the end of August 2025 due to the funding ending at that point.
The successful applicant will conduct high quality research in theoretical quantum optics and related areas. They will work on current issues interesting the research group, including quantum batteries, non-Hermitian quantum physics and quantum topology.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to conduct high quality research in theoretical quantum optics and related areas.
