The Rheumatology Research Team at University College London Hospital (UCLH) is expanding and are seeking two Band 5 Nurses to join the team. This role offers an opportunity to enter the exciting filed of clinical research without prior research experience. The Rheumatology Research Department works on a portfolio of UCLH sponsored and hosted studies. We recruit to studies for adult and adolescent patients with inflammatory conditions. The Research Funding Officer is a member of the pre-award team supporting the coordination and submission of a portfolio of research funding applications working closely with academics and professional services staff in the three faculties. Within this role you will deliver and develop actuarial and funding risk modelling, analysis and reporting for pension fund clients and stakeholders. You will prepare funding (asset and liability) risk modelling using their ALM software covering analysis and oversight of long-term client funding strategy. You will then prepare funding risk reporting before it is issued for checking and review.
Role requirements:
* Experienced part or NNQ level Actuary (or qualified by experience).
* Demonstrable UK DB pensions knowledge from within a technical or pensions modelling role.
* Experience of using asset liability modelling software and working within a risk management framework.
* Experience in using PowerBI, ALM software, some prior coding knowledge would be attractive but not essential.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a team with plenty of longevity due to working on open LGPS schemes. This is a fairly small team that can offer plenty of variety and the chance to get stuck in to plenty of work. This role may go permanent for the right candidate.

As a Director within this team you will firstly understand the issues of your client, set a strategy and plan for resolving those issues and then provide technical guidance and oversight to the team to implement that solution for you to review. Typical projects may be centred around GMP, auditing data, benefits and calculations, bulk data rectification and benefit (re-)construction and data cleansing and improving electronic data. This role is not centred entirely around GMP work.
Role requirements:
* FIA qualified preferably or be qualified by experience (preferable to have an actuarial background but not essential)
* Strong knowledge and experience of UK DB Pension arrangements with a technical pensions background
* Good understanding of manual benefit calculations and processes and GMP equalisation and rectification

As a Research General Engineer in the Technical Division at the Coast Guard R&D Center, you will join a fast-paced, diverse, and collaborative group of scientists, engineers, computer scientists, and analysts to contribute to research in focus areas. This position will focus on contributing to and/or leading Defense and Safety Systems (DSS) applied research projects. The DSS Research Program aims to ensure the safety of Coast Guard members, the Maritime Transportation System (MTS), and the public now and into the future. Examples of defensive systems that will protect our assets from evolving threats include non-lethal vessel stopping technologies, counter uncrewed systems (C-UxS), directed energy systems, and cybersecurity systems in Operational Technology (OT).
