Job title: Media & Communications Manager
Salary: £33,000 to £35,000 per annum
Based at: Chesterfield, Derby, Leicester or Nottingham with agile working (must visit the Chesterfield office at least once per week). Additional travel may be required
Contract: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)
1. WHY THE POST EXISTS
Are you an experienced journalist with knowledge of business and current affairs, policy and politics? Do you have a successful background within a busy PR and marketing role? Have you managed magazine design, production and distribution? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of how the media works at local, regional and national level?
As the Chamber’s Media & Communications Manager the postholder will apply creativity and effective communication daily to positively raise the company profile.
This role will protect, build and enhance the Chamber brand while actively supporting the vision to ‘enhance East Midlands businesses and communities’. A key workstream will be the production of Chamber publications – predominantly the influential and well-respected Business Network magazine.
2. THE KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Developing, planning and delivering an integrated multi-channel PR and media strategy that positions the Chamber as the leading voice of business in the East Midlands and assists the Chamber in achieving its agreed three-year business plan objectives.
- Devising innovative strategies and media campaigns to support all Chamber departments and subsidiaries in order to encourage take-up of Chamber events, products and services.
- Developing news releases, authoritative comment and features and securing coverage for them in the local, regional, national and specialist trade media.
3. APPLICANTS WILL POSSESS
- An understanding of business, current affairs, policy and politics.
- Knowledge of how the media works at a local, regional and national level.
- Experience in producing copy for a wide range of publications.
- The ability to work to and achieve deadlines.
- Able to professionally deal with media enquiries and cultivate strong last relationships.
- Excellent writing skills including the ability to write for all manner of audiences and situations.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- A keen eye for a story and PR opportunities.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and cloud-based applications.
