Community Marketing and PR Assistant
Fixed Term, Part Time
£23,344 per annum, pro rata
Location: Colchester
Please note that this is a fixed term contract / secondment opportunity till the 31st of December 2025 and is a part time role, offering 18.5 hours per week which will ideally be 2 full days and 1 half day, but all possible working patterns will be considered and can be discussed at interview, but there will need to be some flexibility to meet business need.
Most of the time you will be based in an ACL centre or out in the community so remote/home-based working will be minimal.
The Opportunity
Adult Community Learning (ACL) is Essex County Council's (ECC) provider of lifelong learning experiences for Essex residents.
ACL offers qualifications to help people move nearer to, enter or progress within the workplace or gain skills to enhance life chances. The service focuses many of its programmes and activities on the hardest to reach communities within Essex. ACL learners have access to a diverse range of non-accredited courses which encourage, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and access to work.
The Community Marketing and PR Assistant will raise awareness of ACL services across Essex. They will work within the community supporting the existing ACL Marketing Team.
Accountabilities
- Under the direction of the ACL Marketing & PR Lead, create and support the co-ordination of multichannel communications to raise awareness of ACL courses.
- Work with the Marketing & PR Officers to create localised social media campaigns that increase enrolments
- Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to promote ACL services in community places and spaces
- Create and update website content as required
- Assist in the production of offline marketing materials, for instance posters, leaflets, campaign flyers, letters and adverts.
- Attend relevant events, and as required set up events, to promote the ACL offer
- Assist with paperwork including collation of digital feedback forms
- Carry out other relevant tasks as identified by the ACL Marketing & PR Lead
The Experience You Will Bring
Essential:
- Excellent communication skills and ability to talk to people from all walks of live.
- Previous experience of professional use of social media and marketing.
- Able to work under own initiative to achieve targets and positive outcomes
- A proven track record within a sales / target led role.
Desirable:
- Level 2 IAG qualification or be prepared to work towards one.
- Experience of sales and marketing within an educational setting.
- Previous experience of organising events.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
