• Act as the lead professional officer at the relevant Area Planning Committees to ensure that they are managed effectively and support Members to make sound planning decisions which achieve delivery of the adopted Development Plans, supplementary planning documents and other guidance and to meet corporate objectives around climate change, ecological emergency, delivery of affordable housing and quality placemaking
• Deputise for the Service Manager Development Management and Head of Planning providing them with necessary support and advice across cases and deal with chief officers, senior members and external contacts on the full range of matters relating to management issues and all types of major and complex applications.

Experience

• Knowledge of statutory regulations relating to planning and related functions (including environmental legislation and regulations
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
• Educated to degree level, ideally in planning, geography or a related subject
• Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI) or eligible to be a member
• Management qualification ILM 5 or higher
• Evidence of continual professional development in accordance with the requirements of the professional institute

About the role
The role involves surveying customer homes and communal spaces. You will be working alongside our residents and leaseholders taking ownership of ensuring that repairs are managed end to end and to manage issues and complaints that arise before, during or after works. The role is fast paced, rewarding and delivers both job and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of larger Damp and Mould case, HSSRS cases as well as complex projects from inception to completion, ensuring that repairs are project managed to meet deadlines and within budget.
• Surveying and Identifying building defects through, conducting the correct building pathology & testing.
• From Initial triage of cases (particularly related to HSSRS) you will take ownership from Site visit through to completion of project.
• Completing detailed reports and specification writing, for example to support section 20 notices and Damp and Mould /disrepair claims.
• Although the role is focused on Damp and Mould there will be development opportunity to be involved with Procurement, tendering, organisation, and management of individual projects. For example, Insurance claims, fire damage, DFG's, Structural Movement and demolition work.
• Mutual Exchange condition reports.
• External Stake Holder engagement, for example with Local Authorities.
• Project Managing to include preparation of plans, prebuild meeting construction phase oversight, maintaining value for money and budget control throughout the project.
• Working with customers & internal departments to ensure that works are completed, and the customers are supported during the construction process.
• Actively contributing to the day-to-day operational delivery of construction work, primarily stand-alone building projects.
• Providing excellent customer service, building relationships with communities and promoting the organisation.
• Supporting the repairs and empty homes delivery teams with technical knowledge.
• Developing and carrying out quotations and tenders within procurement guidelines.
• Working with the Safe Homes teams ensure that all subcontractors are working compliantly and to the required standards set out by the Health and Safety executive.
• To be responsible for creating a culture of excellence and continuous improvement with a focus on right first time.

Skills

• Good working knowledge of Health and safety regulations and good practices inclusive of Construction design management.
• Knowledge of HHSRS risks and relevant legislation/compliance.
• A working knowledge of Schedule of Rates.
• A Formal Building qualification such as a RICs accredited course, BSC, HNC, HND or working towards one.
• Confident using IT such as Microsoft packages and Outlook
