Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of mental health and community health services. These include acute adult and elderly mental health units and community teams based at a number of locations in Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs, and intermediate and elderly care units based at Queen Mary’s Hospital (QMH), Sidcup, and Eltham community hospital.

The Trust has dispensaries located at QMH and the Bracton campus, Dartford; both are registered with the GPhC and the QMH pharmacy store holds a wholesale dealers licence. Within Oxleas, clinical pharmacists are an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, with regular ward attendance and provision of a medicines information service which includes a patient telephone advice line.

Key tasks and responsibilities
• To provide clinical pharmacy services to mental health, intermediate care and elderly care inpatient units, to ensure patients receive appropriate medication on admission, have their medication and adherence reviewed during their stay, and have a clear medicines management plan on discharge.
• To provide information about the use of medicines to consultants, other prescribers, other health care professionals, patients, relatives and carers.
• To support professional leads in identifying and addressing issues around the use of medicines that are relevant to meeting CQC standards, for example advising on the safe and secure storage of medicines, and contributing to the audit and review of controlled drug processes.

• To record information as required on clinical pharmacy activity.

The department of Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering is accredited to ISO 9001:2015. The department consists of two main sections of Clinical Engineering and Clinical Physics. The Kent and Medway Communication and Assistive Technology (KM CAT) service and Medical Devices Governance Team come under Clinical Engineering. Radiology Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physics are under Clinical Physics.

As a lead Health Care Scientist for Governance and Quality, you will have the overall responsibility for all quality and governance matters related to the department of Medical Physics.

Direct and lead the team in ensuring effective and efficient operation and ongoing registration and certification of the quality system within the department of Medical Physics.

Provide specialist knowledge so as to ensure the Trust’s Medical Physics become progressively more effective in the delivery of quality Medical Physics services.

Be the responsible officer for all aspects of quality, standards and governance within the department

Secure compliance with internal policies and external bodies

Act as the responsible officer for provision of all departmental policies and procedures

Act as the risk manager for the department

Provide training in quality management

Professionally manage deputy quality manager and line manage quality and governance officer

To support the department in progressing quality improvement projects in engineering or physics projects depending on the background and experience of the candidate.

The successful candidate will be responsible to and work under the supervision of ENT Consultants.The post holder will be expected to participate in the day to day activities of the department in co-operation with the ENT team. The post holder will provide ward rounds, administrative and audit duties. The successful candidate is advised to participate in research projects and to attend various departmental teaching seminars and regional/ national postgraduate meetings. The post holder duties will ensure that he/she continues to gain appropriate clinical ENT experience. The post holder is expected to start the day promptly to receive any hand-over patients admitted the night before, continuity of care for in-patients and participate in Consultant ward rounds. The successful candidate is expected to be flexible in the exact hours worked each day. It is also expected that the Specialty Doctor will ensure that the Electronic Discharge Notifications are completed and accurate.

You will work closely with mental health clinicians and develop good working partnerships with a variety of stakeholders including employers, job centres, trade unions and employment agencies.
