The postholder will:

Departmental Responsibilities:

• Through communication, and co-operation of other staff, create conditions in which play occurs naturally, whether or not the play specialist is on duty.
• Select safe, appropriate play materials for the various age groups in agreement with the ward managers/modern matron.
• Ensure that all play equipment is kept clean and maintained to a high standard, reporting any defects or hazards to the ward/dept manager.
• Be responsible for the safe storage of certain play materials which may be used only when the Play Specialist is present. To tidy away play activities at the end of each play session within the internal and external play areas.
• Supervise any Play Specialist or Nursery Nurse students who may be allocated to the department through colleges of Further Education. Assess students and complete necessary documentation/reports.
• Give talks about role of play specialist • Promote the importance of play to all professionals. • Co-ordinate pre-admission work including school visits.

Clinical Governance:
• Through the Trust appraisal process, identify and action own development needs.
• Match development plan to that of the service
• Ensure required mandatory and competency based training is kept up to date.
• Ensure awareness of when and how to report untoward incidents and complaints.
• Work within the guidance of Trust Policies and Policies and Guidelines pertinent to the Children and Young People’s Directorate .
• Actively participate in the regional play benchmarking and local audit.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
*To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work in accordance with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Core Standards of Physiotherapy Practice and the Health Professions Council standards of proficiency, conduct performance and ethics.
*To provide highly specialist clinical assessment of patients using expert clinical reasoning strategies, and formulating and implementing appropriate and effective management packages.
* To provide specialist occupational health DSE and work place assessments
* To provide expert advice and second opinions to Physiotherapy colleagues, peers and team members as appropriate.
* To demonstrate expert communication skills with patients, carers, and colleagues. Communication may be with patients who have complex emotional, physical and psychological conditions that will require expert use of a range of verbal and non- verbal communication tools. Other barriers to effective communication may be hearing loss, mental illness, fear, pain, anxiety, unrealistic expectations, etc.
*To communicate sensitive information to patients and carers accessing occupational health regarding diagnosis, prognosis and management options in an empathetic manner.
* To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload to meet the both service and patient priorities.

* To deal with informal complaints and support the Occupational Health Lead Physiotherapist in the management of formal complaints in line with the Trust guidelines
* To be actively involved in the collection of appropriate service data and statistics for the use of the Physiotherapy service, including completing audits/ peer reviews.
* To set annual objectives for the service with the Occupational Health Lead for physiotherapy; which are relevant to the Partnership objectives.

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to work as part of the Trust’s Facilities Team to provide a professional, comprehensive estates, facilities and health and safety service across all Schools in the MILL Academy Trust. The MILL Academy family of schools includes Queen Emma’s Primary School, Finstock Church of England Primary School and The Henry Box School.

This post will be based at The Henry Box School primarily and is a full time, year- round role. The successful candidate will also be required to work at the primary schools as required to work with the rest of the team to complete larger tasks and projects, for training and to provide cover in the event of absences.

Our caretakers are responsible for maintenance, security and facilities management on school premises, locking/unlocking school buildings and grounds at the start and/or end of the day, operating and monitoring heating plant, electrical and lighting systems, and carrying out minor improvement works.

On a 3-week rotation basis, the caretakers are required to provide 24/7 emergency call out cover in case of alarm activations, fire or intruders and also on a 3-weekly basis, caretakers work on a Saturday to support the community lettings of the buildings. Overtime at the appropriate rate will be paid for any weekend work, out of hours work or emergency call outs.

We operate across Thames Valley, but this post is predominately based in Oxfordshire working for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
• Monday - Friday 9am-5pm based primarily within Oxfordshire court settings, but also meeting service users within the community
• You will support people within court and custody settings who are typically hard to engage, you will talk to families and friends, to gain a holistic understanding of the client’s circumstances and facilitate their access to support services, providing individualised support with practical problems or difficulties that may be affecting their health and wellbeing.
• An empathetic advocate of service users, you will promote their rights and responsibilities, building a rapport, whilst maintaining appropriate and transparent boundaries. You will be emotionally resilient, able to cope with people potentially displaying challenging behaviour and distressing situations
• To provide help and advice to service users that includes housing, social isolation and exclusion, education, debt management and employment problems etc.
• To provide the court with written and verbal information pertaining to the individual in a timely fashion to inform disposal
• To work closely and build links with all referring agencies within the custody suite, court and probation acting as a single point of contact for health
• To work autonomously, with the ability to organise and manage own time according to delegated workload

The “must haves” for you to be considered for this role: 

1. An NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent or relevant training to diploma level.
2. A warm personality, good communication and people skills.
3. Licence holder with access to your own vehicle who is prepared to travel across multiple sites in Hampshire as required.

Working pattern + Service operating hours:
Our service operates in police custody from 7am – 8pm, 7 days a week using a combination of early shifts, late shifts. Our service does not operate at night.

This role is Monday – Friday only. Requests for specific working pattens can be considered in line with our flexible working policy.
