We are recruiting a Catering Team Leader to work at Conquest Hospital.
You will be responsible for the day to day supervision of the Patient Meal Services Team, ensuring high standards of food safety are achieved.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing or supervising a team alongside a passion for excellent service as we are looking for someone that will lead by example and constantly strive for the best service levels.
Supervising & supporting a team of workers, completing rotas and ensuring that administrative duties are carried out.
To promote the highest possible standards of food hygiene and safety with hands on skills.
Working a variety of shifts will be working a variety of shift working 5 days over 7.

Responsible for the day to day supervision of the Patient Meals Services Team, ensuring high standards of food safety are achieved and maintained in a timely manner.
Complete Annual Appraisal (PDR) for each member of staff, completing necessary paperwork and forward to Site Catering Operational Management Lead.
Responsible for the day to day Management of staff absences, completing return to work interviews, liaising with Site Catering Operational Management Lead when Trust Absence Policy is triggered.
Responsible for organisation of work and planning within the Patient Meals Services Team.
Day to day management of staff rosters to ensure that all areas are staffed appropriately.
To ensure that Mandatory training compliance requirements are met for all staff within management remit.
To ensure food service best practice guidelines are adhered to at all times.
Assist in rectifying errors/shortages of patient meals and implement corrective measures to reduce errors.
To ensure that all stored food items are used within use by/best before dates on a first in first out stock rotation basis.
Under the guidance of the ward staff and dieticians, ensure patient dietary requirements are met.
To communicate directly with patients on request by Dietician, Ward staff or the patients themselves.Use developed communication skills to overcome difficulties of language and / or understanding.
Investigate and respond positively to user complaints/issues and put in place effective remedial action processes where appropriate.
To promote highest possible standards of food hygiene and safety to comply with current legislation and policy set out by the Trust.
Ensuring standards of cleanliness are maintained as specified in cleaning schedule
Ensure all other staff within Catering Department comply with hygiene standards.
Ensure all staff acknowledges customers and patients politely and with respect.
To support the Trust Catering Management Team in reviewing, planning and development of all aspects of the Catering Service. This may involve making proposals for relevant policy changes to improve the operational service.
To assist in responding to technical Environmental Health Department inspection reports.
To communicate effectively at all levels within The Trust as well as with external contractors, agencies and their representatives.
Understanding of agreed departmental standards and to ensure standards are met by ward catering team and other ward staff involved in the meal distribution.
To undertake relevant project work as delegated by the Trust Catering Services.
To promote effective processes and procedures to minimise food waste.
To ensure cost effective allocation and assignment of work within set time scales and ensuring best use of staff resources.
To support the Catering Management Team and contribute towards meeting the requirements of the Catering budget and set targets.
To support the Catering Management Team in reviewing, planning and development of all aspects of the Trust Catering Services in order to increase income and maintain/reduce costs to stay within budget.
To assist in ensuring secure and robust supplies ordering and receipt of goods procedures in accordance with the Trust’s Procedure Policy and Financial Standing instructions.
Effective and equitable management of departmental sick absence in accordance with the Trust’s attendance policy.
To support Induction of new staff and ensure training requirements for all team members are met.
Recording and maintaining records as required.
Reporting of mechanical defects in equipment, monitoring and co-ordinating.
