An experience Domestic Gas Engineer is required in Edinburgh by a leading name in the boiler market to work across their region, carrying out Domestic Heating & Boiler repairs and servicing. The position will see you working on central heating boilers and some associated gas appliances in domestic properties, both private and some housing association homes too. The role will see you at times fault finding, diagnosing and repairing boilers which some other previous engineers or other companies were not able to. The opportunityWe have an exciting opportunity for a Development Consent Order (DCO) Project Engineering Manager. In this role, you will take ownership of the project’s technical assumptions and oversee all engineering activities. The DCO Project Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with other project work package managers to ensure the project design is optimized for constructability and operability. You’ll be responsible for fostering a strong, collaborative, and positive working culture within the Project Engineering Team and across various functions. Additionally, you’ll ensure that all engineering activities align with statutory requirements and EDF Renewables policies, including Zero Harm, Quality, Engineering, and Design Management. This role requires a focus on risk management and consideration of lifetime project costs.
What you’ll be doingAs DCO Project Engineering Manager your key responsibilities will adapt appropriately to the project lifecycle stage, for instance in the:

- Pre-planning consent stages, the focus is on, supporting the planning process and providing a viable engineering concept design; and
- Post-planning consent phase, the focus is on readiness for financial decisions and procurement; setting up and managing contractors and client assurance of design; overseeing site activities and commissioning; and accepting technical documentation at handover.

Examples of responsibilities across all project stages are as follows:

- Manage and develop the scope for all design and engineering work packages under the Project scope;
- Expand the identified scope into a work breakdown structure that identifies clear activities, deliverables and interfaces with other disciplines and delivery target.
- Assist the Project Manager to develop the programme and project management plans. Be responsible for, monitor and report on the progress of activities within its boundaries.
- Develop the Engineering Management Plan and / or Design Management Plan to identify how Engineering will be delivered, governance applied and quality controlled. This includes sub-ordinate documentation such as: CDM related documentation; technical RAID log (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies); stage plans; Pre-Construction Information; basis of design; requirements register; and interface control documents.
- Work with the Project Manager to ensure engineering and procurement related works are considered and well aligned in the overall project programme.
- Serve as a technical lead, providing guidance and oversight on engineering team and contractor
- Work with the Planning & Consents Work Package Manager to ensure the project design remains within the consent and is economically viable.
- Manage and hold accountable the Project Engineering Team including contractors and consultants.
- Manage and document the design process.
- Manage interfaces as required by the Project Manager.
- Work with the Asset Operations directorate to ensure operational requirements are understood and incorporated into the design.
- Ensure work activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant internal and industry HSE requirements (e.g. CDM).
- Identify and pursue optimisations to maximise project value in conjunction with the rest of the project team.
- Support in the definition of technical team: identify the desired competence and skill sets required, define roles and responsibilities in conjunction with Project Manager.
- Identify procurement needs for engineering services in terms of scope, duration and cost. Support the procuring of these services.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Engineer to lead a small team of engineers, technicians and supervisors in delivering the Council’s annual road and footway maintenance programme and other transport related projects including active travel and road safety improvements. We are currently recruiting for a Duty Maintenance Engineer to join the team here at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh.

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel, we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities of any hotel in Edinburgh with a capacity of up to 500 as well as our award winning ONE SPA and our One Square Restaurant and bar.

Role:

The Duty Engineer is responsible for the delivery of 1st fix maintenance as requested throughout the property, planned preventative maintenance schedules, and the undertaking of designated Health & Safety duties across the hotel and spa. In addition our ideal candidate is expected to have knowledge and where necessary assist in all other general FM tasks, as directed by management. You will take part in the Department Duty Engineer shift rota providing 24/7 cover.

• React to requests to assess and repair where possible, faults with all aspects of the buildings including HVAC, lighting & small power issues, plumbing problems, Pool plant and Thermal suite
• Communication to ensure accurate record keeping is maintained for reporting.
• Undertake and record regular Planned Preventative Maintenance and Health & Safety schedules to include monthly emergency lighting testing, tap/shower head descaling, lighting checks, temperature checks of water systems as specified in the site Water Risk Assessment, fire alarm testing, fire equipment checks, meter readings, running generator, pool plant etc.
• Carry out Health & Safety testing to include the Control of Legionella.
• Take ownership of designated role as part of the Hotel emergency evacuation procedure.

Requirements:

We are looking for someone who is energetic and self-motivated and who is ready to take the next step on your career path. Ideally you will have at least 2 years' experience within a similar environment.

Our expectations of you will be that you are able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team and have a strong desire to improve on your skills and knowledge as well as:

• Good oral and written communication skills
• Must have previous experience of working in a maintenance environment, preferably Hotels, 2-3 years minimum
• Required to complete all required relevant documentation including: inspection results, surveys, work order and reporting systems Knowledge of H&S procedures e.g. COSHH, Risk Assessments and safe systems of work.
• Awareness of Energy Management and the requirement to run systems efficiently and cost effectively.
• Must have a good Level and understanding of Health & Safety
• Previous Fire Warden trained
• Pool Plant experience. Pool plant operator qualified preferable
• Understanding and awareness of HVAC systems. With the ability to fault find and resolve.
• Knowledge and understanding of Fire alarm and sprinkler systems
• Good all round knowledge of electrical distribution and fault finding 17th edition wiring regulations qualified preferable
• BMS experience. The ability to fault find and the awareness carry out alterations to improve the office environment
• Knowledge of System drawings O&M manuals and other relevant documentation and procedures.
• Requires understanding and using various hand tools, electrical tools, and test and inspection equipment.
