What you’ll do:

• Keep our building services equipment and systems in top notch condition

• Troubleshooting and fixing any issues that come up, making sure everything runs smoothly

What you’ll do:

• Set out, fabricate, install and where necessary commission new steel and copper pipework for all infrastructure
• Have a good understanding of Pump’s, Pressure Set’s, Pressure Vessel’s, Plate Heat Exchanger’s.
• Investigating the underlying causes of breakdowns or failures and identifying and undertaking remedial action as required.
• Have a broad understanding of legislation and codes of practice affecting engineering works and always comply with both these and the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work.
• Undertake risk assessments for maintenance and repair works to ensure that works are carried out in a safe manner.
• Ensure plant history is kept up to date
• Learn new techniques and procedures with training where appropriate, attaining the required certification.
• Control supply of Spare parts and materials required to complete an emergency repair in quick response time.
• Liaise with departmental manager, ward/clinic staff or administrators and observing departmental procedures
• The post holder will be required to identify and request materials for repairs/modifications, supplying comprehensive technical details to the Mechanical PTB / Mechanical Manager.
• Carry out a wide range of maintenance tasks including statutory maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and testing
• To provide a versatile and flexible multi-skilled human resource capable of performing the planned preventive maintenance, reactive and corrective maintenance and other maintenance related activities to the Project Agreement requirements, and site services needs and expectations.
• To perform the activities of servicing, testing, verifying, diagnostics, repair and calibration of technologically advanced mechanical, electrical and electronic installations, plant and equipment,
• Provides management, technical advice to other maintenance staff, contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures. Allocating tasks and ensuring tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with the requirements of the Project Agreement.
• To assist in ensuring that immediate corrective action is taken in the event of emergencies so that the Trusts/client needs are met, to avoid danger to people, property, and service provision.
• To provide as requested by management reports, calculations, and recommendations for the correct and efficient running of all plant and equipment using the BMS system and CAFM System.

ROLE SUMMARY

• To undertake the operation and maintenance of all plant & building services installed within the Golden Jubilee Wing, within the broad range of technical disciplines and in accordance with the PPM schedules and task sheets.
• To attend to all calls and reactive requests for assistance in a timely, diligent and efficient manner, so as to best protect the Client's assets.
• To maintain full & accurate reporting of all tasks attended, including time, any additional work required, details of materials used or any specialist attendance required.

Key Responsibilities:

• The day-to-day planned maintenance and operation of all plant and services including the monitoring and control of site conditions utilising the BMS.
• To liaise and co-operate with specialist sub-contractors and other visiting disciplines to ensure the continuing efficient operation of the building & plant, minimising any disruption or down time to the occupants.
• To comply at all times with the Company's Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Procedures and to ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with Industry best practices & statute so as to best protect the Clients assets or business.
• To assist Management with the operation and implementation of Permit to Work systems and to report any instance of non conformance with these Safe Systems of work. Raise any concern with a Supervisor or the Estates Manager as arising.
• To ensure that all areas in which work is undertaken are kept in a clean and tidy condition, and that all waste is removed & segregated for disposal in accordance with standing environmental procedures.
• To undertake any small works or alterations within your specific skill set as required by the Estates Manager. Including the assembly, installation and commissioning of new installations, without detriment to PPM & Reactive Shift duties.
• To provide a timely and efficient reactive response to emergency situations and to accurately diagnose faults and carryout the necessary remedial action to ensure optimum availability of plant & services.
• To be proactive and be capable of anticipating potential faults or problems which may occur within the full range of building services, and to report to the Estates Supervisor for the necessary corrective action where necessary.
• To be able to prioritise tasks and to seek advice and support as appropriate.
• Understand the overall operation & strategy of the building services, including mechanical, electrical, fire protection & Building Control systems within the Golden Jubilee Wing. Able to carry out the necessary system checks & accurately record plant status & issues arising by means of the Shift Log.
• To be fully proficient to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance, including testing & diagnosis of all plant and Building Services as necessary.
• To be familiar with Emergency & Escalation Procedures and to implement as necessary.
• Use all relevant tools and equipment safely and report any defects to equipment issued.
• Undertake the duties of lower grade staff on an ad hoc basis as required & to instruct others on all aspects of the role as necessary.
• Maintain current trade knowledge in accordance with published Codes of Practice & guidance and embrace any training provided by the company to enhance professional skills, innovation, & safety procedures.
• Participate in12 hour rotating shift pattern, including working public holidays as rostered, and covering holidays/sickness of other shifts in liaison with the Estates Supervisor and to be available where possible for out of normal working hours attendance's as directed by the Contract Manager.

Communication & Relationship Skills

Knowledge, Training & Experience

• To have completed a recognised Apprenticeship or similar scheme and to be qualified to ONC or equivalent in a relevant Building Services / Engineering discipline.
• To have completed or currently participating in CPD courses or Authorised Person training.
• To have an understanding of energy efficiency and Environmental procedures including segregation of waste & recycling.
• IT literate

Mobile Engineer (Multi-skilled Mechanical and Electrical)

Location: Leeds with travel to Manchester

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

Company vehicle provided

Full clean UK driving license (essential)

As a result of the continued success and expansion of our FM services to our clients, Sodexo have an opportunity for an experienced multi skilled mechanical and electrical engineer to join our Corporate Service team.

Working in a mobile capacity across the Leeds and Manchester area's, you will travel to client sites in the provided company vehicle and complete building services engineering maintenance to a variety of client properties.

In your new role you will be responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks including maintenance inspections, fault finding, upgrades and installations activities.

These will be completed to achieve the highest level of service for the client, answering queries, reporting any defects and keeping them informed of site activities at the time of the service visit.

In this varied and rewarding role you will be responsible for the completion of PPM, proactive and reactive works issued through the helpdesk within set time frames so that the client expectations are exceeded.

All works are to be completed in line with the latest guidance and legislation such as SFG20 or relevant ACoP's where applicable. You will be expected to complete all work-related documentation accurately and on time, ensure your PDA is utilised correctly and keep logs of inspections reports and remedial work.

About You

To be considered for this role you will have and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• An experienced electrical / mechanical technician working to a high standard of building services provision (planned and reactive), with excellent customer service.
• Experience of working under strict Health & Safety procedures including Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), risk assessments and method statements.
• Capable of fulfilling an Authorised Person / Responsible/Competent Person role
• Practical experience of working independently in a technical maintenance environment
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering / Installation.

Desirable qualifications

• 18th Edition
• IPAF / PASMA

As a Mechanical Engineer at Sodexo at Merville Barracks, Colchester you will be part of our engineering team, Supporting the delivery of statutory, legislative, and mandatory maintenance on a client site. You will complete planned and reactive maintenance, as well as minor new works as directed. This role is client facing, and you'll interact with our Armed forces personnel every day, improving quality of life for all that you meet. Join Sodexo and be part of something greater. What you’ll do: 

• Complete risk assessments for maintenance tasks and work safely always
• Respond to Emergency Call Out’s and attend site to provide engineering expertise ‘out of hours
• Manage a variety of reactive Mechanical tasks and planned activities to meet service level agreement deadlines.
• Keep up to date with any changes in legislation and best practice relating to the work being completed
• Escorting of Mechanical specialist sub-contractors to deliver a high-quality professional service, with a systematic approach to problem solving.
• Undertake Mechanical work in domestic, commercial, industrial building, minor works repairs and fault finding.
• Be fully conversant with all aspects of Mechanical systems.
• Inspect, order materials and complete tasked works in a timely and efficient manner. Update help desk with any delays
• Liaise with help desk daily, scheduling works and completions
• Liaise with customers to arrange appointments, access and to discuss works.
• To Make up part of the on-call Rota.

What you bring:

• People Friendly, Customer service skills are essential
• A good awareness of the HASAWA 1974 and their own legal obligations
• A good awareness of British Standards.
• Qualified Mechanical Engineer accredited with City & Guilds Level 2
• Working knowledge/experience of building maintenance.
• Able to work within a team environment
• Good communications skills both written and verbal.
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
• Held a full UK Driving license for 2 years or more
• Must be over 25 years of age to driver company vehicle
