GameStop is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This role will collaborate with a team of engineers, product managers, designers, and business partners. In this role, you will help design, build, and maintain highly scalable microservices and core front-end components, powering products and features that delight millions of GameStop customers. The ideal candidate will be customer-obsessed, highly collaborative, and passionate about creating customer experiences that are both frictionless and delightful.

This position will sit onsite in Grapevine, TX.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Collaborate with product managers, TPMs, and fellow engineers to build software solutions that power the shopping experience across all platforms.
• Architect, design, and implement highly-performant and scalable services that enable Ecommerce funnels (cart, checkout, IAM, etc.).
• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture, design, and extensible code.
• Write scalable, performant, readable, and tested code. Monitor, track, and optimize performance on an ongoing basis.
• Review code and provide meaningful feedback to peers to help build better solutions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to peers and less experienced engineers.
• Use data to provide input to prioritization decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• 4+ years relevant work experience with building highly performant applications and services. This is in addition to degree/experience requirement above.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like, agile development environment.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, object-oriented design, and data structures.
• Strong coding skills (preferably on a *NIX platform)
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, C++, etc.
• Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships and collaborating across multiple teams.
   

WHAT’S GOOD TO HAVE

• Deep understanding of Java Spring Boot based architectures.
• Proficiency in more than one modern programming language.
• Experience with large-scale, multi-tiered systems and architectures.

Summary

Under limited supervision, the Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer focuses on resolving data integration, data validation, business intelligence, and data reconciliation issues and building new data structures and processes. This may include gathering requirements and importing, cleaning, transforming, validating, or modeling data with the purpose of understanding or making conclusions from/about the data. Deliverables will include DDL or DML SQL commands, visualizations in Power BI, processes designed to improve data quality, data consolidations to support one-off business needs, presentations reviewing conclusions gained from analyzing data, documents detailing business requirements as they pertain to data, and specifications covering the data necessary to address the business requirements.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Analyze complex data systems and document data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies describing what/how/where/why data is stored and how to access the data. Document and cross-reference business data terms and definitions that occur in various databases
• Analyze and evaluate content and performance of queries, reports, and other data-based processes suggesting improvements which may include changes in the structure or indexing of data, as well as programming changes in generation, and distribution of reports/queries
• Create reusable and supportable data structures for analysis and planning
• Review and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources with the ability to interpret data that is not well defined or documented and develop recommendations based on findings.
• Conduct detailed analysis of databases and systems to identify real or potential data quality issues including accuracy, completeness, relevance, and timeliness. Develop data reconciliation and cleansing solutions
• Support Merchandise Planning tools and provide user support
• Communicate data analysis results to senior management in clear, non-technical language. Identify and present findings, and follow through to completion, process improvements that improve data quality, drive efficiency, mitigate risk, or provide new value to the organization

Minimum Qualifications, Job Skills, and Abilities: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program or equivalent direct relevant experience
• At least 5+ years of experience analyzing business data including advanced, demonstratable database query (SQL) experience
• 2+ years supply chain operations or merchandise operations experience
• Experience with enterprise data warehouses  
• Working knowledge of the methodologies, processes, and tools commonly used in BI environments and ETL/ELT processes and conveying key metrics in an easy-to-understand format for non-technical business decision makers
• Well-versed in Microsoft’s Office Suite
• Excellent communication and comprehension skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Retail industry experience
• Experience with Google Big Query and the Google Cloud Platform
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI

Summary

Working with general supervision, the Refurbishment Center Industrial Engineer is responsible for evaluating, designing, improving, and implementing processes in the Refurb facility as well as conducting time studies to ensure the expectations of the associates are fair and backed up by data.  These final processes will have the result of better streamlining, simplifying, and improved ergonomics while also maximizing employee safety, quality, productivity, cost efficiency and reducing wastefulness.  An associate in this position may interact with his or her supervisor as needed by either, but will often gather requirements from floor leaders and lead their analyses independently.  In addition to technical and analytical expertise, this employee possesses strong communication and planning skills and will demonstrate superior customer service to the assigned departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Continuous review and improvement of production plans and processes for all Refurb Center functions by streamlining, simplifying, increasing ergonomics, etc.
• Development of process improvements and recommendation of technological upgrades that maximize process flow and reduce waste
• Develop designs and production standards (Standard Work Combinations) with the assistance of the floor leadership and their team members.
• Design facility layout improvements and presenting them to the Refurb leadership team
• Design control systems to minimize costs and production issues
• Train staff members and leadership on new processes
• Provide and manage process documents and standard work combinations

• Expertise in working with engineering and computer-assisted design software
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
• Strong technical writing ability
