We are seeking an enthusiastic professional person with experience in Road Safety matters and have an excellent technical and communication skills, that understands the need for technical rigour and attention to detail.
It is desirable that you have RoSPA or Road Safety Auditing qualification to be able to lead a team undertaking road safety audits.
You must have significant relevant Road safety experience as well as be confident in leading and guiding members of the team and their workload. You will be part of a high performing and ambitious team, supported and encouraged to achieve your goals and deliver your best.
You will assist the Area teams in providing technical expertise and contribute to delivering services specific to the team in order to ensure effective, efficient and safe delivery of the service for users and the people of Cheshire West & Chester in accordance with Council policies, procedures and resources. To promote, develop and implement programmes of road safety schemes in order to minimise road traffic collisions and casualties throughout Cheshire West and Chester.
This role will assist in the design of casualty reduction schemes/new safety measures after undertaking detailed accident analysis, to improve safety for all highways users including cyclists and pedestrians.
A driving licence is essential for this role as you will be required to attend site meetings throughout the Borough, sometimes over challenging, sensitive issues. You may be asked to attend meetings out of hours either virtually or in person for example to represent the Highways Service at Parish Council meetings and to present all Road Safety matters on behalf of the Service. Therefore, you will need to possess excellent communication skills and be approachable as we are a strong customer focused service.
You will be based at either the Area Highways Office in Guilden Sutton near Chester or the office in Winsford.
The role is flexible, and this means that the successful candidate will be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough including home/office and can be from a range of sites across the Borough but predominantly from the Guilden Sutton Office. This is needed to provide cover for the office at times and answer any emergency calls throughout the day from the Contact Centre.
You will be given the opportunity to act as Out of Hours Duty Officer which entails making the decision on whether gritting throughout the winter is carried out and taking calls out of hours and acting on them as required. Overtime and Standby allowance is provided for this.
