The role
As a Training and Competency Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. In this role, you'll will play a pivotal role within a growing and dynamic team, with the opportunity to shape the future of commissioning capabilities. You'll contribute to a critical function, ensuring the Submarine Commissioning Group personnel possess the necessary training and competency to excel in their roles.
Day to day, you'll
- Lead the team in developing and implementing training programs for all classes of submarines at Devonport.
- Oversee the creation and standardisation of documentation used to record and demonstrate training and experience.
- Collaborate with various departments including early careers and enterprise partners to ensure a comprehensive approach to capability development.
- Partner with the Commissioning Capability Manager to identify and implement strategies for enhancing group competency levels.
- Take full responsibility for developing training materials for the Commissioning Group.
Full-time, 36-hour position with hybrid working options (on-site at Devonport Royal Dockyard and remote work arrangements).
Essential experience of the Training and Competency Manager
- Possess experience and knowledge of capability and development management along with administrative expertise.
- Excel in communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders, coordinating data, and integrating information.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and independent work ethic.
- Have exceptional organisational and administrative skills with computer proficiency.
- Possess outstanding communication skills for both verbal and written communication.
Qualifications for the Training and Competency Manager
- HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline with membership of a relevant professional institution is preferred.
- Educational or training qualifications are desirable, including:
- NUC0793 Nuclear Plant Foundation Course Module 1
- NUC0794 Nuclear Fundamentals (foundation) Course Module 2
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
