A large part of this role is painting and decorating across the site however as part of the team you will support with system reactive and preventative maintenance, additional works to all aspects of security systems, fire detection, life safety equipment and any other equipment within your capacities.

Registered General Nurse - Community

Opportunity available for a Registered General Nurse to work within the Community team , Based in Burntwood

The team sits within the community unplanned care team with the role predominantly assessing new service user referrals and care & support needs. Assesses service users and formulates, develops, implements and evaluates programmes of treatment /care/support for individuals, families and carers. To effectively implement individual treatment programmes as designed by a HCPC registered occupational therapist/ physiotherapist/ speech & language therapist or psychologist. This could include patient education, exercises as an individual or group, practising functional tasks and community activities, ongoing assessment and adjustment of own clinical interventions based on the fluctuating needs of the patients. Under supervision of a HCPC registered occupational therapist/ physiotherapist/ speech & language therapist or psychologist provide a range of activities and educational programmes, instructing and guiding patients to support achievement of goals. Under guidance of a registered occupational therapist/ physiotherapist/ speech & language therapist or psychologist , undertake formal therapy assessments, for example of functional tasks or of specific cognitive and perceptual abilities, complete specified outcome measures and provide feedback to patients and the Head Injury Therapy Unit team. Conduct mobility practice with patients identified as appropriate by therapist e.g. sit to stand, transfers and walking. Fit prescribed orthotics, assisting in the identification of the patients needs, provide monitoring of their use and participating in the training of carers. Provide daily living aids/equipment and teach/demonstrate use to patients and carers. Support therapists to effectively run group sessions for patients and carers. Identify unsafe equipment to remove from circulation and follow correct procedure for permanent disposal. Accurately and timely complete all multi-disciplinary treatment records and input data for computer audits. Form professional relationships with patients and communicate with them in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture. Gather information from patients notes and accurately record information in the multidisciplinary notes including client observations. Teach and demonstrate use of equipment or other techniques to patients and carers. Assess patients response to treatment and judge when to progress therapy. Undertake assessment and practice of personal/domestic activities of daily living as directed by the occupational therapist. Assess patients use of daily living aids/equipment ordering and supplying as required. This may involve taking/fitting equipment in patients own homes. Liaise with other health and social care professionals and other related statutory, private and voluntary organisations to ensure effective service provision. Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in line with professional and Trust standards. Review and reflect on own practice and performance through regular participation in professional supervision and appraisal, and amend practice where necessary. Participate in the induction of new staff and students. Participate in the delivery of Trust, Head Injury Therapy Unit development plans. Undertake relevant activities to meet training and development objectives identified with supervisor. Maintain a record of continuing professional development (CPD) activity. Participate in Head Injury Therapy Unit team audits and evaluation activities as agreed with supervisor as applicable. Ensure that areas are well maintained and comply with health and safety guidelines, ensuring the safe use of equipment and storage of materials. Undertake administrative tasks e.g. filing, photocopying and faxing. Undertake as directed any housekeeping duties e.g. cleaning of equipment, tidying work areas and replenishing First Aid Boxes. Undertake any other appropriate additional duties as required by the senior therapists. Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary clinical meetings when required.
