We have been awarded the contract to rmanage and modernise the UK MOD satellite network, Skynet.
The role
As an IT Systems Architect you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will design IT systems and upgrades to current systems to deliver new service capability, ensuring new services and systems meet industry best practice and UK security requirements.
Day-to-day, you'll also manage obsolescence within the existing system to ensure the system remains supportable and compliant to security requirements. You will manage the installation and configuration of new system software, hardware, and connectivity. In this role you will also:
- Test and commissioning of new equipment and services.
- Providing third line support to operations teams.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week. Offering a hybrid working pattern with the expectation to be onsite 3 days a week. There will be a requirement to visit one of our local sites in Colerne, Bristol, or Oakhanger, typically once a week within the 3 onsite days.
Essential experience of the IT Architect
- Experience of having direct responsibility for architecture/design activities on large and complex projects
- Experience of VMWare and virtualisation
- Knowledge of common enterprise IT components including Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux, anti-virus, active directory and M365
Qualifications for the IT Architect
- You will have to a minimum of HNC (Level 4) in Information Technology, Computer Science or other related subject. Alternatively, an equivalent qualification such as a degree level.
- Driving license
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance for this role.
