Description
We are seeking a highly dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Personal Advisor - Looked After Children & Leaving Care Service WCR 2 Base. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to looked after children and young people who are preparing to transition from care to independent living. You will play a crucial role in assisting them with their education, housing, employment, and other essential life skills.
As a Personal Advisor, you will be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable young people. Your days will be diverse and rewarding, as you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and support young people in achieving their goals. You will work closely with a variety of professionals, including social workers, educators, and housing providers, to ensure that each young person receives comprehensive support and the best possible opportunities.
This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be building relationships with young people who may have experienced trauma and adversity. You should be empathetic, non-judgmental, and able to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Additionally, you should have strong organizational skills and be able to effectively manage your time and caseload.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one support and guidance to looked after children and young people in their transition to independent living
Develop and implement personalized support plans for each young person, identifying their strengths and areas for development
Assist young people in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities by providing information, advice, and practical support
Advocate for the rights and needs of young people within relevant systems and services
Work collaboratively with social workers, educators, and other professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic support for each young person
Support young people in developing essential life skills, including managing finances, finding and maintaining accommodation, and accessing healthcare services
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions and support provided to young people
Requirements
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in social work, counseling, or a related field
Proven experience working with looked after children and young people, preferably within a leaving care service
Sound knowledge of legislation, policies, and procedures related to looked after children and care leavers
Strong understanding of the challenges faced by care leavers and the ability to provide appropriate support
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage a busy caseload
A commitment to ongoing professional development and the ability to keep up-to-date with relevant sector changes and best practices
Hours Per Week: 36.00
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £21.24
Location: Westminster, South West London
